University of Michigan (UofM) Accelerated program

Published

Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!

I still haven't heard anything either. I'm trying to stay positive but it's becoming hard to. I hope we all hear soon!

I haven't heard anything...but I talked to Michele yesterday. She said that they are still reviewing and have only released a few decisions. They had alot of applications.....blah....blah....blah. Waiting patiently :D

does anyone know the latest we can find out? michele wont email me back :(

I think that we should find out if we are accepted, waitlisted, or rejected by April because there is a deposit for spots due May 1st. If you are waitlisted...you may not find out you are in until the week before classes start.

yeah i called and they said it could be tomorrow, or it could literally be in July until we find out. i dont think they are waitlisting people, i think they are just waiting for people to accept once they send it out and if they dont accept the offer they will send an acceptance letter to someone who was potentially "wait listed." Thats why it is taking so long.

Did they say that's what they are doing? No waitlist?

no they didnt, but my friend who is in the accelerated program currently got wait listed last year in decemeber, and found out in february with other wait listed people. its already almost april, so thats why i think they are just waiting for people to accept/deny acceptance and then if they deny send one more letter out to people they werent sure of.

I think that's what they are doing too! I don't mean to be a downer but there is no way at this point in the year they haven't sent out the majority or all the acceptances letters. I'm sure there is a chance a few people wont accept and they will send an acceptance to someone else but at this point I have given up hope of getting in.

i dont think a lot of people have found out still, i only know a few that have. and if we didnt get in, why wouldnt they just send out the reject letters asap?

I highly doubt the majority or all of the letters have been sent out, and that they are waiting for people to decline/not respond to their offer before extending enrollment to the next person down the line. That is essentially being wait-listed (which Michigan would inform you of; they wouldn't do it covertly.)

I am guessing that everyone will hear (accept, reject, waitlist) by Apr 1...especially if the deposit deadline is May 1 (which somebody claimed in an earlier post).

I still think its wrong for Michigan to be releasing decisions in a straggling kind of way. THey should have set a date (april 1) and released them ALL then. I would even prefer a later release date (May 1 as an example) if it meant that they wouldn't straggle out decisions...it just bothers me.

I hope we all hear soon, and good luck to all...

For those of you on here that got in, do you mind me asking what your GPA was and what school your bachelors was from?

I think they are behind in reviewing applications. I know 5 other people who have applied and none of them have heard anything either. I would think we would of heard of more reponses (positive and negative) if they had selected all of their candidates. I suspect they are overwealmed by the number of applications this year and are going through their process so they get the applicants they want. I have a friend who went to the school of business a few years back and he didn't hear anything until a month before school started and it was an e-mail to say...Congratulations you're in. At this point all any of us can do is wait and hope for the best.
