Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!
ok now even I'm surprised that no one has heard yet. I would have expected at least one batch of decisions to be sent by now. Fingers crossed for all of you!No matter where you go, nursing will be an amazing experience. Eye on the prize, guys!
I spoke to ----- earlier this week and she said decisions will be released over the coming weeks, up to a month from now.
nope i still haven't heard anything. i e-mailed "you know who" at the uofm office asking if everything was ok with my application because last year i applied right at the deadline and found out in 11 weeks and this year i applied early and it's already been 12 weeks. i wanted to make sure they got everything and all i got back from her was:
"the full review of applications is not yet complete. please be assured that you will be notified once the final decisions have been made. you will be able to view your decision in your wolverine access account."
soooo that didn't really answer my question but oh well. i'm sure she gets a lot of those e-mails this time of year. hopefully we'll start hearing soon. i can't believe it's march 1st and most of us/ none of us heard anything. sigh
I don't know if anyone's seen this beffore, but I noticed the questions about the current second career class profile and when U of M updated their websites they added a class profile, thought you guys might like looking at it, I know I hadn't seen it before:

There are skills blitzes before the semesters start and medication calculation exams. We also have simulation labs that we need to take part in. Everyone attends the same lecture but clinicals generally have 8(ish) people in a group and during the first semester your fundamentals skills labs will have 12-14 people in a group. You'll have skills check-offs during your first semester in addition to your exams.
Clinicals: You'll either have AM clinical (6:30-2:30) or PM clinical (2:30-10:30) or both, they can be here in A2 or you may have to drive for an hour to get there; people are pretty good at car-pooling in those situations. Each clinical will require a project with a presentation, weekly assessments and patho write-ups.
There are times (OB and this semester) when you have exams every week in addition to the myriad of other work to be done. It's a challenge but do-able.
