University of Michigan (UofM) Accelerated program

Published

Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!

I know this is aggravating, but it really isn't any different from last year. Some of us found out in Feb, many more in March and April, and some found out after the May 1 deposit deadline. Then those that were waitlisted found out July-August. Just be patient. All the office is going to keep telling you is that they are still reviewing applications. last year they had 355 applications, this year they probably have about the same, maybe a few more.

And to Alymo, the average undergraduate GPA from our class was 3.5, half had a BA, half had a BS, half went to U of M for undergraduate, 70% had some kind of previous volunteer or work experience in the medical field

I mean this in the nicest way... Some of you need to step back from the keyboard and take a breather. Spring is here, try not to let THE WAIT get to you. Enjoy your family and friends, because once you get in (you WILL), you won't be spending as much time with them.

It's 29 degrees outside right now...if thats Spring, then I REALLY need to move out of Michigan!

Specializes in Mechanical Circulatory Support.

You really need to give the school 4-6 weeks between rounds of notifications. I think the first round went out around the first week of March, so expect not to hear anything for another 3 weeks or so; it could be sooner, but don't expect it.

If nothing else, view this as your first training for the program - you WILL experience plenty more frustrations; some are easy to let go of, others not so much (this program nor any other is perfect) but roll with it and it all works out in the end.

anyone heard yet?!

So here I am, writing a goal statement to submit to Oakland University's Accelerated Program. Awesome, UofM, awesome! The funny thing is I had planned on knowing the status of my application by this point and was only going to write this goal statement if I hadn't been accepted. UGH!!! So frustrating. :crying2:

feel your pain- the stress level is rising. just tell us please.

I'm currently in the program and like the others said, there was a wide range of when people got their acceptance. Some got waitlisted or accepted in December, others not until August and everything in between. I'd tell you to be patient, but I was in your shoes not too long ago and know that I was anything but patient. Don't lose hope, though, because trust me, people were still getting acceptance letters within weeks of classes starting. I know it's frustrating, but be prepared for anything and have Plan B in your back pocket. Good luck all!

Hi all - I'm one of the incoming accelerated program students and just signed up here. If you are also starting this fall, please say hi. I hope we can all set up a FB page for networking like the current class did. I thought I would post on here that I got my acceptance on March 1, and met one other person in the library at WCC taking microbio who heard in February. I got her name and email, but lost it. :(

I'm curious if anyone has been researching scholarships and/or loan repayment options and programs, and if anyone is considering Wayne State's 2nd career program. WSU was my 2nd choice, but I was never able to find anyone who could tell me much about it and how it compares to U of M.
