Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!
Froyo - I'm pretty sure we will be doing the skills thing starting the second week of August. I don't know for sure, but that's when it started last year. If you can't go to orientation in May, they may let you go to the Orientation later in the summer for the "last minute" people pulled off the waitlist. I would call the school of nursing and ask. They're very nice and helpful.
Dave - Sweet! anyone I know?
Sarabear - Congrats! I emailed a friend of a friend who is in the program and she had a few things to say. What kind of info are you interested in?
Congratulations to everyone who got accepted into the program! I applied early fall and I had my pre-requisites done and I still haven't received an answer yet. I wonder if maybe I am just going to get declined. Trying to be positive, but after almost 6 months, it is kind of hard to stay positive. At least I am still looking into other schools. I also had an interview at OU for their accelerated program. Any way, congratulations again to everyone!
For those of you still waiting to hear: I know how hard it is to wait and I know you don't want to seem pestering to the admissions office people, but you should call or email the lady in charge of UM SCN admissions because she is very helpful if you need to know a decision by a certain date. I needed to know for several reasons and I e-mailed them to ask when I would hear my decision. It seems like they kind of sped it up for me because I applied January 14... Decisions are guaranteed by mid April so either way, only 4 more weeks to go.
I talked to her on the phone and she told me they were about to release a big group of letters/decisions so I think they do it in waves rather than one at a time.
Good luck everybody :-)
Hey all,My application was misfiled as being incomplete, so I'm still waiting for my letter, but I wondered if anyone knew when the orientation starts in August in the lucky event that I do get in.
Thanks :)
OMG how did you find out that your application was misfiled? I still haven't heard anything and now I'm worried maybe there was something wrong/missing with application. I'm thinking about calling or e-mailing them to make sure but I don't want to annoy them.
Take froyo's advice if you're concerned! I called because I had a bad feeling and it there was a mix up with my transcipts. It's not likely that any of you would have the same problem; it was because I am alumni and i've been married since I graduated but my app was under my maiden name. When they got my current transcripts which only listed only my married name, they started a new application under the new name. They had no way of linking the two applications and this is the transcript that had ALL of my prereqs on it! It never would've been caught if I wouldn't have called and even the nice lady at the SON said that would've been a pretty quick denial. She said my app was in review and was able to put a hold on it until they got my transcripts. A few weeks later I was accepted.
My advice is to call undergrad admissions and YOU LIST OFF TO THEM what materials they should have and they'll confirm what was sent over to the school of nursing. You don't want to forever wonder if it was something clerical if you get denied. There's nothing wrong with making sure they have your complete application. You can call the SON and ask them to tell you what they are showing in their system for your application but they might just tell you to call admissions.
