Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!
My application was complete 11/16 and I haven't heard anything either. I got rejected everywhere else I applied so I am totally giving up on UM too. I fully expect a rejection from there too. I am in the process of meeting with advisers for two different community college programs and will most likely end up going that route. It's not the route I wanted but I am determined to become a nurse somehow. This might work out better with my family/son anyway.
My app. was complete 1/14 and I have only heard that they wanted to see 9 syllabi and course descriptions which I promptly sent. I asked when we would hear because I have conflicting decisions and deposits due at other schools, but she only said, "You will hear as soon as we make a decision." Thanks. Yeah, I am checking wolverine access every day... It seems like these state universities take a LONG time and aren't very friendly throughout the process... But be patient everyone! Our decisions will be here before you know it :-)
Thanks Abbie!
Sarabear - I did all my prereqs at Washtenaw CC and the biochem teacher there is WONDERFUL! It's Cem 140. And Jackson offers an online Pharm class. I dropped it because it seemed too unorganized but I know people who took it and did fine. It's definitely worth looking into.
I have three friends who haven't heard yet. One of them applied late December and I don't know when the other two applied. I know one person who said she got her decision mid-march last year so it would seem as though they have at least one more "wave" of decisions to go out. Best of luck to all!
I took Pharm online through Lansing Community College (LCC). You do, however, need to physically go to the testing center at LCC for each exam or set up a proctored location.
On another note I GOT IN to University of Michigan - Flint's accelerated second degree program!! I know it's not what this thread is about, but it is U of M, and I'm shouting it from the roof tops. I'm so excited! I'm still waiting to hear from UM-Ann Arbor, but I'm so excited to be accepted into an accelerated program, and a great one at that!
Good luck to everyone!
Everyone awaiting a reply from the SON or those that got waitlisted don't be discouraged. I was put on the waitlist and offered a spot. Keep praying! If nursing is something you truly want to do then pursue it with all your might. If you don't make it through the path set by U of M, you can always go elsewhere. There is an opportunity for everyone. Be tenacious.
Sarabear -
You can take it over the summer but I forgot to mention that it's like MSUgrad's in Lansing where you will need to arrange to have the tests proctored if you can't go to campus to take the tests. Your school's testing center should be able to do that for you for a fee but you'll want to look into it now because it might take a few days for you to get that set up, especially being out of state). And ask how much the fee is; my school was going to charge me $30 per test and there were three tests (which, FYI, was all that comprised your grade - no assignments or other quizzes to speak of).
Hey MSUgrad - I just found out today that I was accepted to U of M-Flint's Accelerated Second Degree Program as well!! :balloons: Congrats to you! I am also soo excited!! I found out a few weeks ago that I was waitlisted at U of M Ann Arbor, but I'm not going to wait around to see if I'll get a spot. I am going to attend U of M-Flint. Do you think you'll pick there as well? Congrats again and good luck with U of M Ann Arbor!
Nicole! OMG I'm so excited to find someone else in the program! I've heard really great things about it! Did you apply to both programs and have to withdraw the traditional? lol, I was like screaming at Lee to take it and burn it. haha. I was so excited. Can you private message me (I'm not sure how to do that) ?
Congrats to you! I cannot wait for the fall!
