Hi everyone, I've been looking around to see if anyone has started a thread for UM's Spring 2018 FNP program so I decided to start one myself so that we can all be here for each other. Applications opened up Apr 1st and I have started on my personal statement but my GPA is a little low and I'm afraid i won't get accepted; I have met the 3.0 requirement but I am still a little unsure. Also, I graduated from my BSN program end of last year, recently passed my NCLEX and got a job in the ER. Although, experience is not a requirement does that lower my chances?Anyone knows how the application process works for UM or have any advice, tips that would be useful? Can't wait to hear from you all. :-)
Hi ERNurse94,
I am glad you are selected for an interview. The most important thing is to remain simple but confident. Be honest in your answers and do not try to speak too much. My interview lasted about 7 minutes as my answers to their questions were simple and straight to the point. You have to tell them about your experience as a nurse and they will ask questions accordingly. Don't be all over the place and acknowledge everyone by maintaining eye contact. Good luck!
Hi ErickaQ, mine was last week. It was also simple and straight forward: be yourself and make sure you keep eye contact. tell them about yourself, what's the role of the BP, why you chose UM, and they will ask you a clinicals question so make sure to brush over the most common disease processes you receive in your unit
