University of Miami accelerated nursing program Spring 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello,

I'm applying to the accelerated nursing program for Spring of 2017. I was wondering if any of you are applying also and where you are in the application process? I feel like I may have a started the application a little late and I'm wondering if that'll lower my chances of getting in.

lol I just noticed the letter says there two $500 deposits and they are both due 2 weeks after the date of the letter. One on canelink to accept admission and the other $500 is mailed directly to the school of nursing for clinical placement.

there was another school i applied to, but because of the out-of-state tuition, i would have to pay over $50k for tuition alone. so UM is looking better and better. and i've been looking online, and the rent isn't so bad so long as you aren't too picky with location and willing to room.

i talked with admissions this morning, and it looks like for those that applied late july (like me) or a bit after should hear something by them by end of next week!!

That's great! Hope you guys hear back soon!! Today I got an email from the school of nursing with a whole new acceptance letter basically more detailed and with the Certificate of Admission to sign and send back to them which has a list of the things we have to do and stuff. Also I mailed them the second $500 deposit certified just now, so at least that's out of the way! Apparently we need to get BLS certified before orientation. Do you guys know anything about that?? The letter didn't really go into that at all just says deadline is prior to orientation..

Also, for those that have been accepted, you'll notice that UM wants us to initiate the background/drug test process within two weeks of acceptance letter as well (basically, 'initiation' = just pay in my opinion). You'll get instructions via email later on that process after payment. I'm still figuring that one out...

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, my letter doesn't say anything about initiating background or drug test within 2 weeks. The Certificate of Admissions says the deadline for the background/drug test/immunizations is by the first day of class and that they will send us by email more information by mid-September. I don't think we need to do anything for that at this point. From what I understood, the only thing we need to do within 2 weeks is pay the 2 $500 deposits and sign and submit the Certificate of Admissions form.

In my pdf and snail mail acceptance letter (both are the same) it's the second page - i.e., Certificate of Admission to Clinical Course Work. It's stated there.

Hey all! I got my acceptance letter to UM today and will very likely attend! I'm from Portland, OR so it'll be an interesting transition. Excited to meet everyone who will be attending in Jan!

Congrats @ nguyenvivtt ! I know the feeling...I'm transitioning from the Pacific Northwest as well (San Francisco).

Congratulations!! It's so cool that so many of you accepted are coming from out of state. I think this is going to be one hell of a culture shock for some people lol but fun for sure! Can't wait to meet you guys!!

Congrats to everyone accepted! I am so jealous!!

I recently had my transcripts verified but I'm curious about when people got information about canelink, and how this happened? I haven't received any information regarding canelink and I'm a little nervous. I applied 8/11 for reference... thanks!!

whoop, more acceptances!! i love the fact that it's rolling so it's not like we have to wait for months for news. what are you guys doing for the next couple of months before jan? any of you have prereqs left to take? i just have AP II but other than, just working and getting in as much R&R while i still can lol

to give you reference, i submitted my app on 7/19, had my transcripts verified from nursingcas on 7/27, and received an email to make a canelink account on 7/28. so according to this pattern, since you just had your transcripts verified, you should receive an email any day now with canelink account details. hang in there! if you don't receive anything this week, i'd definitely call say... friday?
