University of Miami accelerated nursing program Spring 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello,

I'm applying to the accelerated nursing program for Spring of 2017. I was wondering if any of you are applying also and where you are in the application process? I feel like I may have a started the application a little late and I'm wondering if that'll lower my chances of getting in.

Definitely be sure to set up your Canelink e-mail address. I know that is where all of the orientation / background / immunization information is sent for new students after the first "Get Ready" e-mail. Looking forward to a great Spring Semester!

Hi, do you that have been accepted know if in the ABSN program would we get breaks like between semesters and spring and winter break as well? Or how does that work since it's only 12 months

Hey @acordova131,

I am currently in my first semester at the U, and yes you do get a little break in between each semester and you also go by the university calendar. We have a spring break coming up March 11-March 19th, so its like a week that you don't go to class or anything (no new stuff to learn that week lol) but use that time wisely because when we go back on March 20th, we have 3 exams 3 days on a row. But don't burn out, go see your family, go out for a night or two :) We get a week between each semester so thats really when you can relax! Honestly, the content is not so difficult, the tough part is time-management because there is so much to read and you will feel like there isn't enough time. If you are a person who knows how to prioritize, and manage your time well, then you will be ok! Nursing school is the priority!!But you will be with people who are like minded and mature and they will encourage and support you (im talking abt your classmates) Professors are awesome! You really get what you paid for lol Hope that helps! Let me know if anyone has other questions!! Happy to help. I was in the same boat last year as you guys!!

Hey, anyone currently attending UM able to describe what a typical class/clinicals weekly schedule is like? Is there a lot of running around between buildings or areas of the city to get to classes or make it to where your clinicals are? Are you busy ALL day, or are some days shorter than others, etc etc

Any info is appreciated!
