Nursing Students School Programs

Hey all, I've been waiting to see a UM ABSN 2018 thread pop up but figured I might as well start one. I submitted my application on March 17 and still waiting for NursingCAS to verify my transcripts. From what I've gathered through past threads, its a rolling admission so I'm hoping to hear back in the next few months! Curious if there's anybody else out there who has applied or planning on applying!

Hey! Any change on your canelink? I check everyday and mine still says incomplete!! ugh!

No change! It's frustrating, I know. I'll call today and ask for an update.

@jfalcon my name on there is Blessing Adebesin. I think it might be too early to start looking for a roommate. More people from our program will join closer to the time i hope.

dang, mine still says incomplete ahhhh! it's a good sign that yours changed though, congrats! you did apply a few days before me so hopefully mine changes soon!

Hi guys,

Congrats to everyone who got in! I was just wondering what you guys are planning on doing for financial aid. I just finished filling out my FAFSA and I guess will plan to meet with someone at financial aid at the university to see what my options are. Also, did anyone apply to FIU? Their ABSN program is $12,800 for the same 3 semesters. I'm not sure how the quality of their program compares to UM though, and if anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated.

I had spoken with both the financial and nursing office a few months back trying to get an idea on how to finance and how much would be offered with the FAFSA. Basically I was told I was calling too soon, that they were still putting together the financial aid packages for the class that had just STARTED. The nursing school offers no scholarships for our program. So it looks like we're stuck with taking out loans and, if lucky enough, finding a scholarship to cover some.

Even with financial aid, they said the money won't be dispersed until after classes started. So finding and financing a living situation may be complicated. They told me students coming out of state room with other students in the program.. that's a whole other issue to work through

Obviously, the final rounds of decisions will be delayed due to the hurricane unfortunately. Just ready to find out! Hope everyone stays safe especially if you are from the Miami area. :)

Hello everyone!

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for me, I applied back in the beginning of July and have heard nothing from them. I just checked canelink and my status says applicant, I read that some people's say complete or incomplete? I called the number I found on their website the other day but was basically told nothing. Does anyone know of someone to request to speak to specifically answer questions. I feel like my apps been forgotten!

The most important thing is your status on NursingCAS. If it says you're verified, you should be good to go.

They're dealing with a hurricane right now and have closed campuses. I know it's hard, but be patient with them

Soooooo I have a dilemma. I applied to UM and waited weeks before getting any cane link ID. I ended up calling and they were the one to provide me with the cane ID and stuff. Still no email..whatsover. I log in to cane link, I don't see any application or anything. I don't even see where to check the status of my application. Last time I called, someone told me I had to wait till they made a decision to get my cane ID. It's really frustrating trying to find information.

Hey guys! Congrats to the people that got accepted. I live in Miami, UM won't be open until Monday, so give them a little bit of time. There's still people here without power and internet, even schools, so be patient with them. Hope this helps, by next week I am pretty sure you will hear something from them.
