Hello everyone, I just wanted to start this thread for anyone interesting or planning on applying to UM for spring 2015. I am finishing up the pre-requisites I need...doing micro class and lab. So far those are the only things I know I have to take. I'm extremely nervous, mainly because of the waiting game to see if I'm accepted or not.
I had to take over class, so I am not too happy about that either, so that also makes me a little down.
Also when I called the other day, someone said they are changing the application process, did anyone else hear that information?
Are you guys finish with all your pre-requisites?
Do you know how much repeating a class puts you in the hole for not getting accepted?
Hi Everyone,
I am new to the forum and was hoping someone might have the answers to some of my questions. I was browsing through and noticed many people already received acceptances. Does that mean it is too late for me to apply? Online it says the deadline for January admissions is November, so Im not quite sure I understand. I already have everything completed on Nursing CAS I just haven't sent it in yet.
Any suggestions? Also, I am curious how long it took people to receive their acceptances one they submitted their applications.

They are accepting applications through nursingCAS until November 1st. It seems that UM (for some reason) is doing rolling admits instead of accepting everyone in one group. If you are really motivated to attend UM, I would send my application in ASAP. It seems that it takes about a month for them to make admissions decisions.
I know that someone mentioned that you can see your status in the communication bar on canelink but I'm new to this and having trouble locating it. I applied 9/22 and have yet to hear back
Click on the green Student Center button after you log in. The communication center tab is on your right.
Does any accepted students know what the ABSN program requires or recommends in regards to laptop for the program? Apple air or something similar?
UM always strongly suggests that we use a Windows laptop due to the use of the Elsevier HESI software that every nursing student is required to use. If you love everything Apple though you can always use Boot Camp, VMware Fusion, Parallels, or Virtualbox so you can run Windows through your Mac laptop. I would also make sure you have 8 gigs of RAM at least and the latest processor (at least i5). I would wait a little longer before purchasing a new laptop, better deals are coming closer towards the end of the year. Check out the student handbook for specific computer requirements.
