University of Miami Accelerated BSN spring 2015

Published

Hello everyone, I just wanted to start this thread for anyone interesting or planning on applying to UM for spring 2015. I am finishing up the pre-requisites I need...doing micro class and lab. So far those are the only things I know I have to take. I'm extremely nervous, mainly because of the waiting game to see if I'm accepted or not.

I had to take over class, so I am not too happy about that either, so that also makes me a little down.

Also when I called the other day, someone said they are changing the application process, did anyone else hear that information?

Are you guys finish with all your pre-requisites?

Do you know how much repeating a class puts you in the hole for not getting accepted?

Is there a Facebook group for our cohort yet?

Yes. There is a link for the facebook group on a previous posting.

Just found through canelink my acceptance letter!! :) So excited! Can't wait to meet everyone in the spring!

For people who have received acceptance so far, has anybody received the acceptance packet from the school of nursing detailing what else we need to do before January? I know that we have to immunizations, BLS certification, and some other things, but I was not sure what I could go ahead and get a head start on. Do people who were previously in the program have any advice as to what to do before the program starts?

after so much anxiety checking my cane link everyday, i finally have a letter of acceptance!!!!!! can't wait to start with everyone in january!

Congrats to everyone that's been accepted!

I was verified on 8/25 and still haven't heard anything back. I called last week and asked why are people who applied after me getting decisions before me. She looked into my application and it seemed as if they forgot about my application because she said "Ill print it out and give it to the committee right away". I called earlier today and was trying to figure out what the hell was going on and the lady I spoke with was very rude to me, and said she was going to print out my application and give it to the committee. I don't understand what the confusion is.. I graduated with a 3.9 with a biochem degree, and my prereqs for Miami is a 4.0. I'm kind of fed up with this school, and thinking about withdrawing my application. I applied to Loyola University Chicago two weeks ago, and received an acceptance letter yesterday so I will most likely just attend their program. Good luck to all those who got in

silly question but does anyone know if we get a normal spring break/winter break? i know the program is so short, so i wasn't sure

also for anyone who doesn't have it, here's the Facebook group for our cohort!

Check the academic calendar for the university. There are breaks in between exams and the start of the semesters but they are not long.

Hey everyone,

I just got my acceptance letter today! I'm still waiting to hear back from 2 other schools but am pretty sure I will be attending Miami's program. Has anybody got any leads on where is the best/cheapest place to look for housing? I'd be coming from LA and have never been to Miami so I don't even have a clue where to begin. Congrats to everyone else who has been accepted!

Hey loola!

Earlier in the thread we discussed housing if you want to look back. Coral Gables and Coconut Grove are really nice neighborhoods with the shortest commute times but they are not the most affordable places to live. Brickell and Wynwood are great areas with plenty of shopping and bars but if price is really a concern, head west to the suburbs or north. You want to always factor in your commute though. The traffic in Miami is no better than in LA. Also, UM publishes a great little guide to the area and popular places for students to rent. You should check it out under their off-campus housing section.

Congrats on your acceptance! When did you apply?
