  1. Hi everyone, I will be applying in Sept for the May 2018 class but I am a bit confused how Barry runs their site programs. Which sites other than Orlando have SIM? If you want to take the program say in Ocala and they do not have a SIM does that mean you have to move to Orlando for a Semester? Is it the same for Palm Beach? Can anyone help me navigate how Barry works? Thank you...
  2. Congrats to all who got interviews!!! Mine is at 11:30 and I will also be at the workshop. I would love to hear from anyone else who will either be at the workshop or the interview just to say hello and know a familiar face. My email is [email protected]
  3. I just wanted to start a thread for this upcoming UNF 2015 Fall semester. I attended the UNF nursing schools open house back in February and was very impressed with how the current and previous students raved about the program and staff. I recently submitted my application for the ABSN program, now its wait and see if my grades and scores are good enough to get invited for an interview in a few weeks. My stats are BA GPA 3.4, Prereqs GPA 4.0, TEAS 346 (87%). I heard that the TEAS score counts approx 50%, then prereqs GPA, then BA GPA. I would love to hear from others that have also applied to UNF.
  4. Does anyone know if you do not get accepted into the ABSN do or will they offer you a seat in the BSN program that starts in the fall?
  5. Not sure where you got that from but Stephanie bloom emailed me a few months ago saying the absn program runs about $56k before scholarships...can you shed some light on the $78k number?
  6. I also received an email to choose an upcoming interview date. Getting excited....
  7. Sure who wouldn't want to do that. But almost all the state ABSN programs want your BA GPA to be 3.0 and higher. So if your GPA is lower than that then that eliminates 98% of the schools. Left standing are the Browards and MDC or any of the old Community Colleges throughout the state and their 2yr AS programs. So we have to consider Jacksonville ABSN program OR Miami College accelerated AS as the two best accredited short term options if you have a lower GPA.
  8. Hey Yulia, I also have my app in at JU. I just got an email today stating they would be in touch with me after January 15 in regards to the interview date. My 4 year GPA is not the best 2.7 but my prereqs GPA are 4.0 across the board in all classes and for being 24 I have a well rounded work resume. So those two things should carry some weight. In the end who knows. JU's tuition at $56k is the most expensive in the state. But keep in mind when speaking with many advisors from various universites, they all had the same message, JUST GET IN because there is such a bottle neck of people jocking to get into these ABSN programs. I also have my application in at UM, USF & UF. I know FSU just changed their enrollment dates to July-Sept 2015. And their program is not starting until January 2016. So they are not having at 2015 class. I did not take the TEAS so that eliminated UCF, UNF, FIU & FAU. And I did not apply to Remington in Orlando or Barry. How about yourself?
  9. And www.Edukan.org is regionally accredited so all universities will accept your credits. But remember to get in many nursing programs part of the entrance criteria is that you do well (min 3.0gpa) on your science prereqs. So again, make sure you have the time to study.
  10. No, all classes are done from your home/office etc. No need to go anywhere. I would say online classes are obviously more convenient but are a bit more thorough because though you have a professor to help guide and answer questions, there is no one to help teach you or give you highlights on what to focus on in each chapter of the book like being in a classroom. So you have to read each chapter, each word, each formula etc. and be prepared for it all. So it is more time consuming from a studying POV. But you can do it provided you give yourself the time to do the work.
  11. Does any accepted students know what the ABSN program requires or recommends in regards to laptop for the program? Apple air or something similar?
  12. Is there a cutoff or last day when they send out acceptance notices?
  13. It took me a year but I just completed all of my prereq courses online at www.edukan.org. The price per credit was $145 which was very inexpensive compared to other schools and the experience and ease of the courses and their online system was GREAT! Its a system of various Community Colleges in Kansas. I enrolled at Dodge City Community College. I took Anatomy & Phy 1 &2 both with lab, Chemistry w/lab, Microbiology w/lab, Nutrition, Psychology, Human Growth and Development. All the professors were very good and if you do the work you should do very well in the classes.
