University of Miami Accelerated BSN spring 2015

Published

Hello everyone, I just wanted to start this thread for anyone interesting or planning on applying to UM for spring 2015. I am finishing up the pre-requisites I need...doing micro class and lab. So far those are the only things I know I have to take. I'm extremely nervous, mainly because of the waiting game to see if I'm accepted or not.

I had to take over class, so I am not too happy about that either, so that also makes me a little down.

Also when I called the other day, someone said they are changing the application process, did anyone else hear that information?

Are you guys finish with all your pre-requisites?

Do you know how much repeating a class puts you in the hole for not getting accepted?

@Newhartc. From florida increases the chance of getting in? I thought that U of Miami is a private school...

Since i'll be applying too, i'm curious about GPA, prereqs, and extracurricular experience of accepted applicants.

I'm from California.

Gracemiami,

Your GPA is fantastic. I got in with lower stats and I am certain that you will be too. How are you enjoying miami?

Lagirl,

I am not certain on that. I know some universities around PA up here give higher consideration to PA residents (private or not)... Either way I'm sure it wouldn't be a huge motivating factor as they seem to accept from all over.

As as far as the GPA I posted that above and prereqs I had all completed at the time of applying. Hope that helps.

Newhartc,

Miami has definitely been a culture shock, but it is starting to grow on me.

sooooooo i called explaining that i completed my application august 9th and how UM is my first choice school. I asked when we would get a word on our acceptance they said the whole month of october and november smh so anywhere between 2 months. I hate this waiting game but no choice smh

Congratulations Newhartc! That's so exciting to find out! The application period is still open until November 1st (sigh) so there still may be some time until the super official acceptances are made. Positive thoughts everyone!

The med school and the nursing school used to give preference to Florida residents. That's no longer the case but there are still a lot of Florida natives who attend UM. Don't be discouraged.

Yes, I also received the scholarship email, but nothing from the school itself saying I have been accepted. Though cane link has my addmission app. marked nothing missing or something to that effect.

No holds, no to do's

I have also have not gotten a response from the university. They told me you need to apply for scholarships now, even if you don't know if you've been admitted. Is anyone applying for the one that includes a 36 month work commitment?

I also sent in my application from NursingCAS about 3 weeks ago and still have not received any word from UM. I called today regarding CaneLink, and the lady told me to call Nursing CAS -___- so confused now...

I'm in the exact situation, I applied around 3 weeks ago and received the scholarship email but nothing about cane link. Did you call nursingcas? I'm confused as to why you would need then to resolve it?
