Hi all soon to be fellow classmates! I just wanted to start this thread up so we didn't have to go weaving through all of the older stuff on the old threads.
I am really excited about starting school come January, really nervous though too. I have a lot to get done between now and then and sometimes I just don't think there is enough time in the day. Oh well, I plan on enjoying the holidays and working my buns off to save some money so that isn't an additional stressor during the first semester.
So lets post our questions, our thoughts and hopefully just get to know one another! And again....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
I was at orientation and everytime I met a new person I was thought to myself hmmm...are you one of the students on the forum? I said it once and everyone was confused and had NO idea what this was. I did find toomanymc at the ID card place though! Kinda funny :) see ya'll Monday...eeehh.
I asked people in my lab group if they are familiar with this forum and none were. I don't think I met anyone of you guys from this forum but I'm sure we'll meet somehow in one of our classes.
Do you guys have courses listed yet Blackboard?? I received an email from JDavenport regarding info she posted at BB but I was not able to access the course: It says that I am not enrolled in any courses. Weird.
Also, do you know if the textbook for the nursing research course is required or even recommended by other students to buy? There was no letter included in the package for this course unlike the rest of the courses we are taking this semester.
Are there nursing students out there living in Fayette?
I met sledinapeske at orientation today!! :) we were in the same team, well, there were only 2 and we ended up being combined for most of the sessions. The campus is small, but quite nice/clean and super GREEN! My head is overwhelmed with information....
I think we'll be enrolled for BB courses by the Sunday before school starts. Eek.
For the research class, I saw a lot of new "USED" books at the bookstore, which probably means the students didn't use it much during the semester so I would hold off till you attend class. I haven't bought mine yet. I'm not looking forward to writing a research paper
teabelle,I'm living in Fayette!! And I haven't found anyone else who is so yay!
Also, I don't have any courses showing up on Blackboard yet either which is frustrating.
orientation was awesome and fun.... the second day was better and I ended up with a good lab group
let us know what you think of fayette... i will most likely move down there next semester.... i'm not digging riding the metro and driving 35 minutes i'm nervous about the first week of school.... it'll be here soon enough.... the students who were current were very nice and welcoming to all of us.... i loved the 'biggness' of the baltimore campus.... also, i was shocked how the nursing building, the gym and library are all CONNECTED.... nice
Terps5555: I'm also living in Fayette. I don't know any other nursing students (1st yr) who live here. If you want to meep or something, pls email me. There's free coffee / hot chocolate down in the lobby and we can meet there.
HurricaneBells: I like it here so far. It's fully furnished and connections with internet and cable are all set, so you don't need to do much but just to move your stuff. It's very close to the nursing school (about 2 short blocks) and though it is close to Lexington Market (I've been there once), I feel pretty safe around the area. The only downside is, it is expensive BUT they have lowered the rates for the fall (though it is still expensive but you have the convenience of copying and printing down in the lobby - about 12 cents/page, no security deposit required, your packages are held for you, there are laundry rooms and small study lounges on alternating floors, there's a gym, and also security cameras and sec guard at night).

the orientation was nice and overwhelming. Yes we have a big crowd. Good luck tomorrow, I remember how exciting it was. :)
