Hey everyone!
I'm applying to UMSON for BSN Spring 2023. I wanted to create this thread so we can share info or ask any questions.
Probably a bit early before regular deadline but priority deadline is coming up (July 15) which is what I'm aiming for.
Good luck everyone!

My science GPA anatomy 1 bminus anatomy 2 b+ ?micro I had a c stat I had an A. Human development I had a C both nutrition,pyschology and sociology I had As
Here is my advice: I would recommend scheduling a meeting with a UMSON advisor. Ask them if all of your prereqs, including the elective prereqs, count. Then ask them what they would advise you to do to have greater chances of getting in if you reapply. It sucks that you didn't get in this time around, but please don't be discouraged. We need more nurses. Keep trying. And if you really want this, you will get it. It's not always a clear-cut path. I hope this helps ❤️

I think retaking the classes you got a C in and taking the TEAS anyway if you are a strong standardized test taker may greatly help your chances in you decide to reapply.

There is a saying that nurses eat their young. You sound like a nurse in the making that will break that stereotype!

I would definitely retake the C courses, at least the science courses. You have time to knock out those classes before the next application cycle. Classes like psych and nutrition are almost always offered online at the local CCs here. I personally took my Nutrition class through Portage, which is a self-paced class (lots of prospective healthcare students finish up their last prereqs through them) and UMSON accepted it. So that’s another option if your schedule can’t work around in-person classes.
If you didn’t use the additional essay option to explain any academic blemishes, I would make sure to do so for your next application. Explain what you did to overcome any issues and what you will implement in the future to be successful. You have a bachelors degree already so you’re clearly capable of doing well and completing a program. You just gotta explain that to them.

Edit: I misread your comment and see that you have A's in those two classes, you should just retake Micro and Human Development.
