Hey everyone!
I'm applying to UMSON for BSN Spring 2023. I wanted to create this thread so we can share info or ask any questions.
Probably a bit early before regular deadline but priority deadline is coming up (July 15) which is what I'm aiming for.
Good luck everyone!
hey guys! I have submitted all documents and materials but the English Language Proficiency part, and I have contacted the UMSON advisor, and she said as long as I finish all general study courses in CCBC then I don't need to take any language tests like TOEFL or IELTS. However, my status of the application is still under action acquired because I don't submit any English Language Proficiency documents. Should I contact them again?

I probably would. I had a block on my TEAS test requirement and needed to contact admissions to remove it since they were waiving the TEAS requirement for people who have a bachelor's.

Yeah! I just got an email from them, and they gave me a link to let me submit a TOEFL exemption request form. Then they will reach out to me again by email about my English language proficiency problem. Thank you though!
Hi guys, I plan to apply to UMSON for the fall of 2024; however, I am from Europe, and I am unsure of my chances. I will be applying to 2 years program because I already have my bachelor's and they will accept it; my GPA is 3.05. I took prereqs here because it was required, and my GPA from these is 3.8. I have a lot of experience as an MA, and I used to be a paramedic back in Europe. My bachelor's is in emergency medical services. I also have Master's, but it's not related to the medical field.
Do I have a chance to get in with this GPA? What GPA did you apply with? I need some insight because I am becoming stressed. I am still to take TEAS but I think I ll do well on the test.
What other schools would you recommend? I can't do community college because they don't accept any of my classes from my other degree, and I would have to take a lot of classes before I can even start nursing. I just turned 30 and studied my whole life. I want to be done in 2 years and get my BSN.

Hey there! I would say having a GPA over 3.0 is worth applying, especially since your background has some healthcare involved. Being from Europe makes it hard to judge your chances but I think it's worth a shot. UMSON highly values diversity and inclusivity, so you can try to appeal to that in your essays. Best of luck.

Do you know how do they look at GPA from prerequisites? Since its kind of separate from my bachelors...
I have a lot of experience from Poland as paramedic and her MA/scribe in primary care and now MA/scribe in plastic surgery which includes assisting in local procedures in the OR and circulating during surgeries as needed, removing sutures, drains, performing tissue expanded fills, seeing patients postop if the provider is in surgery, and more.
I really hope my experience makes up for the GPA I can't even change anymore.

I haven't seen anything on SURFS either. Or a facebook group. Should we start one?
