University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) BSN Spring 2023

Published

Hey everyone!

I'm applying to UMSON for BSN Spring 2023. I wanted to create this thread so we can share info or ask any questions.

Probably a bit early before regular deadline but priority deadline is coming up (July 15) which is what I'm aiming for.

Good luck everyone!

My app was on Committee Review for 1 day. I just received a provisional offer pending completion of two prerequisites before the start of the program. No information on fin/merit aid. This is for the Shady Grove campus!

Please when did you receive  your response

I’m sorry! I hope you hear back soon. All the waiting is very anxiety-inducing.

I applied July 30th and got my provisional offer August 2nd! It's so rewarding when all of your hard work finally pays off. I start Spring 2023 at the Shady Grove campus. Good luck to everyone waiting for their decision!

This might be a stretch but has anyone been rejected yet ? It seems they are quickly accepting best qualified and holding off decision on less qualified applicants to see how they stack up against new applicants (just a theory). I saw on the previous Spring admissions thread, some people didn't get rejections (and a few acceptances) until as late as November!

I'm glade you said that because I haven't heard anything  yet smh ?

Yeah I am a bit nervous since my stats are a bit of a mixed bag. I have a Bachelors from about 10 years ago but didn't do very well then (life circumstances and all, won't get into it). However I have a 4.0 in the prerequisites, in PTK, and pretty confident in my essays. The requirement for TEAS was waived for me since I already have a bachelors, but kind of regret choosing to waive it since it's another piece that could bolster my overall portfolio.

I hear they approach admissions "holistically" so I hope I showed enough to prove that I'm a different person now compared to when I was first in college LOL

I understand, I was rejected  last semester, my status is definitely nit the best, however I'm a very strong and discipline person. I feel if UMSON is for me I will get in, if not it's okay too, I can't stress anymore, I will just find a plan B.

Don't get discouraged, it's still very early in the admissions process. I honestly didn't expect to hear back until October/November considering I missed the early action deadline.

For sure, thanks for the encouragement. UMSON is a good school and it's just the nature of good schools to be selective. It makes getting in that much more satisfying but I'll try to keep a positive outlook until my decision comes out and will constructively work on a Plan B if things don't pan out. Happy for you, Bear!
