Last year's thread for this program was in full swing by this point with good rumors and nervous applicants. So, how many people out there have applied for the 2014 MEPN program at UHM? I am hoping there are 40 seats and only 40 applicants.
I chose the NP/Public Health Dual track. My admissions letter stated that I had been accepted into that track even though it's on hiatus. I heard from the coordinator that the track is on hiatus due to some accreditation issues. I guess they need to take care of some things to be sure that UH can continue to offer the dual track? They are hoping to resolve the issues soon... I guess it doesn't matter at this time since everyone has to do the same coursework for the first year anyway. But if it doesn't get resolved in time, I plan to do the NP track and go back for a Post Master's certificate in PH.
As for my YouTube video... I'm an educator by trade so what I mainly talked about was how philosophically it's not a huge jump from education to nursing. That after learning the technical skills needed for nursing, I would still be caring for and educating others - just doing it in a different setting.
I scripted my answers first, then turn the iPad on me and recorded myself speaking. I edited the video on iMovie and uploaded to YouTube. But you're right - it took several edits, my first video was almost 10 minutes long! I had to cut some stuff from my script and re-record about 3 times. And even then it was 6:48 lol.
Can anyone shed some light on how the financial aid will work? I know that I will need to fill out the FAFSA and apply for Grad Plus loans to cover other living expenses. I guess I'm more worried about the summer term. The federal loans/grants usually cover Fall and Spring, but what about summer?
