  1. Hi Nurses. Longtime lurker, few time poster. I broke my ankle and had ORIF in the middle of April. For those of you who have went thru this wonderful odessy can you share some insights on recovery? I start PT next week and coincidentally excepted a new job two weeks ago which I start at the end of July....12 hour shifts...med surg/ED/psyc (float) Recommendations for shoes...high tops, mid tops/ ankle brace?? Was it he'll when you went back? What tips do you have for me? Starting later like August or September is not option, I have to work and make money. For background I am a middle aged male, not taking any pain meds, and I am losing my mind keeping my foot elevated. I am really good at hopping up steps and binge watching Hulu.
  2. Good morning Hawaii. Can anyone please provide realistic pay ranges for a new grad RN with a BSN for Hawaii? Many of the job applications for critical/acute/staff RN positions require an entry for expected salary. I don't want to enter a number too low and be taken advantage of, nor do I want to enter a number too high and be ignored. Google searching New Grad RN pay for Hawaii returns answers ranging from $28 to $55 an hour. $55 seems way too high, but I have little to go on besides what people enter into these insight/glassdoor websites and a pay scale from 2008 for Queens that might support $50/hour since it is 8 years old. New grad RNs, while eager, are not generally as "useful" as an RN with a few years experience, so I would expect a lower avg. hourly pay, but I do not know how much lower. Mahalo.
  3. Thanks for the insight.
  4. Same thing for me, but I took it yesterday. Not doing the PVT, but quick results will be out in 25 hours and 15min. Good luck.
  5. Took NCLEX and it stopped around question 105. Thoughts? Is that the kiss of death?
  6. Hey Nerdy. I have taken both classes in the last 6 weeks and they were straight forward classes. I am a nursing student and knew the other students were likely to be RNs and other seasoned providers, so I read through the books and tried to memorize all the information. I was concerned that I would be holding the class back due to my lack of experience. That was not the case at all. Get the books a few days before class starts, read through them, pay particular attention to the plastic coated flowcards and you should do well. Both classes, IMO, are about teamwork, leadership, remaining calm, and using clear communications during an a code type of event.
  7. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.
  8. Robinson- Do you get enough "practice" time in the simulator to make you feel confident in your skills?
  9. I went FNP/ Public Health, but since it is cancelled I may chose gerontology. Frankly, I am open to any of the specialties.
  10. I really hoped that with rolling admissions there would be some notifications by now. I also learned yesterday- absolutely nothing- when I spoke to the office about the MEPN results. I saw the sim lab yesterday and I was blown away. I imagine they spent tens of millions of dollars recreating the hospital floor. Good Luck awd36. Thanks for the post mrobinson
  11. I was there. I was the one in the green shirt.
  12. I received my books today from UHM and Elsevier Bundle Pack is on backorder; did any of you receive the bundle?
  13. It didn't open to us until 1100, it took me about 45 seconds to register for the classes.
