University of Florida DNP Fall 2021

Nursing Students NP Students

Published

Hello there! I just wanted to start this thread to see if there were any people applying to the University of Florida for next fall for their nurse practitioner program? I am applying to the BSN to DNP specialty in Pediatric Acute Care. Anyone know how the current pandemic might affect the application process? Any current students that might want to share their experiences with application process, and the current state of the program? Thank you all in advanced, looking forward to hearing from you all and starting this journey.

Hi guys! I just applied last week to the AGACNP track. I was in between that and FNP, but eventually picked one. My application was verified today! Do we find out if we are accepted through email or NursingCAS? Good luck everyone!

Me too! Do you have ICU experience? Goodluck! I would imagine through email. I got the email saying it could be as late as end of April/early May ?

I don’t have ICU experience. The program advisor said I didn’t need it! As long as I had acute care experience in the hospital, which I have almost 4 years of! And ugh that’s so far from now!

Hey guys!

Did you see the news letter that the NURSING CAS site sent out this morning? it had a list of schools with open seats and UF was not one of them.

Please tell me I am worrying for nothing. Im just now submitting my application due to a reference pending. Do they fill the seats before the deadline? Does this even make sense? Like why would they have the application still open if they filled the seats?

Sorry ya'll just super freaking out..

Hey! So I don't think you need to worry. The schools they listed have rolling/deadlines that already passed.

This is what UF emailed me when my application was verified,

"Thank you for submitting your application for admission to the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at University of Florida College of Nursing.

Your application is now complete and ready for review. The Graduate Admissions Committee will begin the reviewing process after the March 1st deadline. Notifications usually go out via email as soon as decisions have been made sometime in late April or early May."

In reading past threads, UF is pretty good with waiting (I mean they're currently going through undergrad and other graduate school applications so I to say theyre busy is putting it lightly haha

For the statement of goals, are we supposed to answer all of the questions in 1 essay and make it more like a personal statement, or do they want us to separate essays for each? After looking at the UF CON website application criteria and the NursingCas documents section, I'm confused because they aren't specific.

Thanks!

I wrote one essay ?

I also wrote my goals statement as one essay touching on all the questions. How long on average did it take for nursing CAS to verify everyone’s applications? I had no idea it would be a waiting process for nursing CAS to verify. The email I received from them states it takes and average of 2 weeks for the application to be verified before sending to the university! I wasn’t expecting that at all! Super stressed now!

I submitted mine and then it returned for corrections with a high school dual enrollment class. I wasn't expecting that either. I resubmitted and it was verified maybe like a week or so later? I'm glad I submitted early because I wasn't expecting to have to make corrections. It'll be alright!

Yes! Granted it took me until the last minute to get one of my references to turn hers in but I wish that nursing CAS had posted a disclaimer about that somewhere. I would have pushed for my references more aggressively and a month sooner! Thanks for the response! Good Luck!

Hey all! I just got a corrections from NursingCas! ??? is the deadline for sure March 1st or is that a preferred deadline! It’s my fault for submitting so close to deadline date but I’m so sad!

I’m in the same boat! I just want to cry! It says on the packet I had printed out that preference is given to applicants who submit all materials by March 1st, after March 1st applications will be accepted on a space-available basis until the application deadline of April 1st.
