Has anyone had experience with the University of Cincinnati online MSN (Adult psychiatric Nurse Pracitioner) online program?

Any comments, feedback, or impressions would be much appreciated!

I've been accepted for the program starting this summer, but would love to hear from someone who either has completed the program, or is going to be attending.

Working on my BSN on-line. Would LOVE to apply to PMHNP program. How is UC going for all of you? Would you recommend it to someone considering applying? Thanks for any feedback.

Hi everyone,

Just started my application for UC's FNP program. I'm trying to gain a better idea of what exactly they look for in a candidate (GPA, personal statement, recommendations, etc.). Does anyone know of anything?

Is it true UC's PMHNP MSN program has been suspended??? Going the DNP route or what? Feedback from those in the program??? How's it going?

Anyone in the program right now has to stay on track to graduate 2013 then sit for the exam before April 2014. The test changes after that and the education will not prepare you for the test.

So they're changing over to a DNP program? What a bummer...everyone is going this direction. My state college is going that route and I was told it will be much more rigorous and of course longer. Anyone know of a good online PMHNP program that is MSN? I called UC last fall and asked about the DNP plan and they assured me there was no plan to go that direction. :confused:

Also, University of South Alabama Homepage and http://www.selu.eduI'm in the UC program as well and they have not disclosed what they are transitioning too to us, but I'm sure it will be DNP to comply with the Consensus Model. To all the UCinn Psych NP students....how is the program? Does it seem that after going through your clinicals, prescriptions/med management is the main focus for the Psych NP role? I would love to know more...Thank you!

I had begun working with UC in Sepetmber 2011 to plan accordingly for hopeful admission for Fall 2012 but was informed that the program was shutting down for the transition not just to DNP but to the ANCC switch for a Family Psych NP model not just Adult. I had also applied to Drexel's program and got the same response from them. I was all ready to give up then Kent State another school in Ohio was able to make the necessary changes for a F-PMHNP starting fall 2012. Won't have the perks of distance based learning but at least I know I'm spending money on an accredited up to date degree. :/ Still is a bummer about the other schools.

I just got accepted to start the psych program this summer. Anyone else starting this summer? When do you get the syllabus? I always like to work ahead. When I was at Umass, we got our syllabuses 2 months before classes started.
