University of Cincinnati online Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Published

Hello,

Has anyone had experience with the University of Cincinnati online MSN (Adult psychiatric Nurse Pracitioner) online program?

Any comments, feedback, or impressions would be much appreciated!

I've been accepted for the program starting this summer, but would love to hear from someone who either has completed the program, or is going to be attending.

Thanks very much!

For those of you in the program, will UC take transfer from other Universities, I have 6 credits, how does that work?

ashonman,

Now that i've been accepted for the spring, that too is something I will be discussing tomorrow with my enrollment counselor. I also have 11 graduate credit hrs. and need to see if they can transfer over. If no one posts an answer prior to me, I will let u know.

You have to fill out a form for transfer of credit, I believe it's 2 classes maximum? And then send them the prior class' syllabus, examples of coursework, and other details that they will specify. It's a nuisance and you have to do it at least 8 weeks before the quarter that you hope to apply them for. But I got credit for two courses and I was glad!

I'm going into 2nd year now so I don't have any advice for that. Except START LOOKING FOR PRACTICUMS EARLY!!!!!!!!!

Oooo, and I want to add, also, health assessment, IMO, was just as demanding as physiology. I really struggled the few first tests, and I would highly recommend the little study guide/handbook listed in the book list.

Are you set up for your clinicals yets? Will they be in Ohio? I just was accepted to this program and I want to make sure I get linked with clinicals. Also, would you mind sharing which classes you transferred in?

Checking back in. How is everyone doing in the program? It looks challenging to take 2+ courses and work FT. Are there are a lot of papers and research to do? Or is more studying and test taking? Is the GRE required? I went to the website and it mentions test results as part of the application but didn't specify which tests. Do you find it to be a good education? Thank you and my best to all. It looks like they have rolling admission...correct?

No GRE is required for the online MSN NP tracks.

I thought the deadline for Spring 2012 was back in September, at least that is what "my advisor" told me. You might want to follow up from the school and verify this information.

Applied to UC for Fall 2012 MSN and NP.... those of you that have just recently been accepted.... min PM me what your GPA was...... I wanna know what my chances are..... signed up for family NP and or Adult.....

PS I have a 3.08 over all GPA with a 3.98 for my RN to BSN transition...... but weighted into everything its a 3.08 as mentioned

They only take your last 60 credits into consideration. So I think you should be fine.

Hi thanks for your reply, my advisor said they postponed the deadlline to january 28th 2012 for spring session.
