World Canada CA Programs

Updated:   Published

Hey everyone! I am planning to apply to the degree holder route for nursing at the University of Calgary for January 2021. I found this site by reading through the University of Calgary, January 2020 forum and thought it would be good to start one for this next years in take.

I am currently finishing my English prerequisite and my anatomy and physiology course at Athabasca. Last year it looked like the GPA cut off was a 3.6 and that most people over a 3.7 got accepted.

I was accepted yesterday morning through the transfer route. My GPA is 3.7 which, according to the advisor, is the cutoff for this initial round of offers

I have a 3.71 GPA ? do you happen to be an internal applicant (change of program student) or external?

I hope I hear from them soon ugh.

I think it means anyone with a 3.7 and above will get offered admission to fill the required seats. And if there is any more seats needing to be filled or those offered admission not accept their offers, they will then go lower than 3.7

@OliveA if you don't mind me asking Olive, did you email or call them at all? And if you did can you tell me which admissions officer you talked to (or pm me)?

Hey Yellowsoft. In reply to your post, I'm an internal applicant (transferring from U of C Engineering). So you will probably receive your offer soon! I emailed Erin, one of the nursing undergraduate admissions officers.

Hi!

I am applying from the U.S, although I am a dual citizen. I’m still waiting to hear back. As of now, they are still reviewing one or more courses to ensure they meet the requirement. I’m not exactly sure what my GPA is, although my last 2 semesters of undergrad I earned a 3.8 in both. I don’t know if they’ll calculate my GPA differently, in U.S schools the grade range differs (ex. 90-100 is an A, 80-89 is a B). Hoping that COVID will work in our favor and mean less applicants!

Hi Allison!

How do you know they still have to review one of your courses? Did you call the office? My status changed this morning to this: "Your application will be reviewed within 2-4 weeks for admission." It's nice to finally see some change in my application. I was getting nervous!!

I am still not exactly sure how international scores convert over. However, 3.8 is really good! Some people with that GPA have gotten in!

Hopefully we both hear back soon!!

Hi!

I had the same status a few weeks ago and then it changed to

“We are currently assessing one or more of your courses to determine whether it can be used as one of the required courses for this program.

Your Student Centre will be updated as soon as the assessment is completed.”

Now I guess I’ll just wait for an update. I’m not sure which course(s) they’re pending on, so I may give them a call sometime soon. I know it definitely takes longer with us international applicants.
