University of Calgary, January 2021

Hey everyone! I am planning to apply to the degree holder route for nursing at the University of Calgary for January 2021. I found this site by reading through the University of Calgary, January 2020 forum and thought it would be good to start one for this next years in take.

I am currently finishing my English prerequisite and my anatomy and physiology course at Athabasca. Last year it looked like the GPA cut off was a 3.6 and that most people over a 3.7 got accepted.

I was just accepted this morning! (Degree holder route)

That's amazing! CONGRATS!! Must be such a stress relief now. Btw when did you apply and what was your GPA if you don't mind sharing?

Thank you!! Huge relief! I applied at the beginning of July with a 3.8 GPA.

Hi all!

I applied as an internal/UofC applicant for the Transfer-route and have a 3.71 GPA.

Seeing these acceptance has gotten me even more anxious. Especially seeing someone admitted with a 3.74

Do you think I have a chance? I hope the GPA hasn't been inflated by the online classes ?

should I give admissions a call?

I would wait, it's still pretty early. The deadline for transcripts is September 15th so I don't think they have even reviewed many people.  I have a 3.8 but haven't heard from them yet either.

Agreed ^

I also know someone else with a 3.8 who hasn't been admitted yet.

Just a disclaimer, Degree route and transfer route are different with each their own GPA cut off so just because someone from the degree route got in with a 3.7 doesn’t necessarily mean you will. There are more seats for degree route than transfer.

Since you are over a 3.7 GPA, I think you will hear from them very soon! Don’t worry, in previous years a GPA > 3.7 have been accepted!

Exactly! Everyone above 3.7 is basically guaranteed

Got accepted today to the degree holder route with a 4.0, applied on July 1
