University of Calgary, January 2021

Hey everyone! I am planning to apply to the degree holder route for nursing at the University of Calgary for January 2021. I found this site by reading through the University of Calgary, January 2020 forum and thought it would be good to start one for this next years in take.

I am currently finishing my English prerequisite and my anatomy and physiology course at Athabasca. Last year it looked like the GPA cut off was a 3.6 and that most people over a 3.7 got accepted.

Does anyone know how long it takes for Athabasca University to send transcripts over?

Once I received my final grades from AU, I called U of C's admissions office to let them know (and also to ask if they required anything else from me). The person I talked to said he would go ahead and request my transcript from AU. I'm pretty sure they received it within the next couple days.

I'm thinking U of C might be waiting until after August 31st to request the remaining transcripts, when they know all of the applicants will have completed their courses. Hard to know for sure though!

I finished a few days ago so I guess it will probably will take a bit extra time. but yes I'll go ahead and call too afterwards.

Is anyone here outside from alberta applying?

I am so frustrated. I took a couple of my prerequisites from different unis and I emailed Calgary about this. I was told to have the respective institutions send my transcripts/final grade to [email protected].

However, Ucalgary is saying they have not received my transcript from a certain institution that I took my stats course at. I also already paid to have this sent.

How did you guys have your prereq grades sent?

Also, was there a part of the application that asked if you are currently enrolled in prereq courses?

Admissions and nursing are on different pages that it is frustrating and annoying.

Why don’t you follow up with your institution with the stats course to send the transcript over or to have it emailed directly to admissions to expedite the process?

No I don’t remember any question like that on the application. As far as I know, all grades and prerequisites have to be done by August 31st.

I'm applying from Ontario.

I also had my transcripts sent to U of C via email and didn't have an issue. I would follow up with your university & make sure they get your transcripts sent over.

I don't believe there was a specific question regarding in progress courses. I just made sure to include Athabasca University (where I took 2 pre-reqs) in the post-secondary section of my application. I'm sure U of C's admissions team can help you sort this out. Good luck!

I was wondering this too. I was hoping they would accept my two writing courses taken in undergrad as english because those courses were from the english department

What email did you contact admissions with? I need to verify that my transcripts sent from out of province as well.

Are they not taking hard copies of transcripts? I think my university only sends them through mail and it is out of province.

They are still accepting hard copies. I think some people are having their transcripts emailed because their universities are only issuing e-transcripts due to COVID-19.
