Hey everyone! I am planning to apply to the degree holder route for nursing at the University of Calgary for January 2021. I found this site by reading through the University of Calgary, January 2020 forum and thought it would be good to start one for this next years in take.
I am currently finishing my English prerequisite and my anatomy and physiology course at Athabasca. Last year it looked like the GPA cut off was a 3.6 and that most people over a 3.7 got accepted.
Hi everyone! I applied on August 1st, and my application status changed to this a few days ago:
We have started reviewing your application for admission to the Winter Bachelor of Nursing program. Please note offers of admission will be made beginning September 1. If additional information is required, you will be notified here. Please check back regularly for updates.
So I guess we only have a few more days of waiting, until the first offers start going out!

Finally!! Lately I have been trying to deal with the nursing and admissions department for the last two weeks and finally received a reply that my anatomy and physiology were accepted as meeting the prerequisites since one of my courses they accepted in the past has had a recent course code change. I called admissions and they told me to email nursing, emailed nursing and they didn’t really do anything, emailed enrolment services/office of the registrar and they told me to talk to admissions, I finally contacted a nursing admission officer and got it sorted out.

It's [email protected] & it has to come directly from your university to be deemed official.
Once your school sends it over, I would call admissions to make sure they've received it.

Sounds good! thank you so much!!
Hi, everyone, thanks for sharing the application information here.
The following is my application status, hopefully it could help anyone who is waiting like me.
I completed my undergraduate degree from the Canadian university outside Alberta.
I checked with both nurse faculty and admission office, and I found that I only need "Anatomy and Physiology" to meet the admission requirements for UC nursing program, so I took BIOL235 from Athabasca University.
July1st, I made application for Winter Bachelor of Nursing Program ( Degree-holder route);
August 11th, I requested Athabasca University to send my transcript of BIOL235 to UC.
August 14th, My account displayed that UC had received the transcript, and it said as follows:
"Thank you for submitting the documents required for an evaluation of your application.
Your documents have been received and they will be reviewed by the admissions team within 2-4 weeks. Your status will be updated if there is any further information required from you or to update you that your application is now ready for assessment.
Once ready for assessment, your application will be reviewed within 2-4 weeks for admission. Please note that evaluation of International documents and credentials may take up to 6-8 weeks."
August 28th, I called UC admission and asked about my application status, and I got the following information:
(1) UC requested my transcript from Athabasca University on July 2nd and July 8th, but my course was in progress, they did not receive my transcript of BIOL235 until August 27th.
( note: my student account showed that it had been received by August 14th; so I guess, for the courses in Alberta, UC admission system may only recognize the transcripts which they requested. )
(2) I was told to wait 4-6 weeks for admission decision from August 27th (when their admission system shows my AU transcript was received).
UC admission staff sounds really busy, but she took time and allayed my worries. And I got the important information: they won't start to process the application until their system shows that all the requested transcripts are received ( not the date when you started to make your application).
I am still confused with the time when they received all my transcripts ( August 14th V.S. August 27th), but I did not want to take too much of her time ( so that she would have more time to work on our applications? :) I ended the call with her.
