University of Calgary, January 2021

World Canada CA Programs

Updated:   Published

Hey everyone! I am planning to apply to the degree holder route for nursing at the University of Calgary for January 2021. I found this site by reading through the University of Calgary, January 2020 forum and thought it would be good to start one for this next years in take.

I am currently finishing my English prerequisite and my anatomy and physiology course at Athabasca. Last year it looked like the GPA cut off was a 3.6 and that most people over a 3.7 got accepted.

Hey, I saw on the university of calgary reddit someone got in with a 3.4 for Winter I'm not exactly sure which intake, but I know last Winter on the old allnurses page individuals got in with a 3.5! I think there are more seats for degree holders so the GPA usually goes lower than transfers!

Oh okay, thank you for letting me know!!

is anyone here using a writing-intensive course to supplement the english course requirement?

My admission status has changed to this now..... now is the waiting period. Who is just as nervous as I am ? ?

Admission Decision:

Your documents have been reviewed and your file is now ready for assessment.

Your application will be reviewed within 2-4 weeks for admission. Please note that evaluation of International documents and credentials may take up to 6 weeks.

You will be notified once an evaluation has been completed.

Hey guys,

I just need some help on a couple things, please. My school doesn't use a GPA scale, only percentages. Does anyone know what a 3.7 is in percentage for admissions? My average is currently hovering around an 82-83%. I keep seeing different things online for GPA conversions and I don't know which one to follow.

Also, I'm still completing the A&P prerequisite with AU as my last exam is scheduled for the 25th of this month. If I apply before then, will that affect my application because my prerequisite is still incomplete?

Thanks in advance and take care!

Hey guys!

Just applied, still not sure about my GPA since I'm still completing a course at AU. Anyone know when the last day to complete the course is, in order to be accepted for the deadling? Is it Aug 31st?

Hey,

According to UofC grading scale an 82-83% is an A- which is a 3.7. Hope this helps! Also you can still apply even if your pre-reqs are not complete yet. I'm not sure when the last day you can complete your course is tho...

The last date to have all the courses in is August 31st. This is copied and pasted from an email sent to me:

''For Winter 2021 admission, all qualifying course work must be completed by August 31, 2020. If a course is not completed by that date, if cannot be used for admission.''

So you can definitely still apply while having courses in progress.

Fingers crossed for you and I hope you get in.

I am still completing my application. Were you able to upload the grades for your completed prerequisites?

I took my prerequisites for the program at a different university. I was only given the option to upload my final transcript from my undergrad.

No! I completed my prerequisites at a different university but within Alberta so my official transcripts were sent automatically to the UofC.

Yes goodluck to you too ?

I thought that you had till September 15 because on the website under important dates it says:

September 15

Transcript deadline: Winter Nursing undergraduate admission
Deadline to submit all transcripts required for admission.

Is there anyone here applying from outside Alberta?

I need to upload/send my grades for prerequisites but I am not given that option on my portal. I was only given the option to upload my undergraduate transcript. I took my prereqs at different universities and they can only send documents virtually right now. I was told to call admissions but it kept going to voicemail. Very frustrating.
