University at Buffalo ABSN 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I am taking the prerequisites I need to apply to the University at Buffalo ABSN program, to hopefully start in May 2021. I was wondering if anyone has any idea which types of applicants tend to get in (what kind of experience they have, etc.), and how much they value healthcare experience. Any input at all about the program is greatly appreciated!

If you’re having issues getting to the page just search “UB ABSN 2021-22” on facebook!

Hey all - just FYI I successfully registered for online Pharm through Cayuga CC, you just have to register as non-matriculated & you don't need any prereqs.

Thanks for the update! Definitely glad to hear there are other options!

Hi! Did you register for Alfieri’s section or Forrest’s? One of them appears a month shorter. Can that be right?

Whoops - didn't even realize that.  I registered for Forrest's, the longer one - if those dates are accurate I'll take all the time I can get while working full-time and taking patho.

So Julie just emailed me back and said that UB recently approved Portage Learning’s Pharm course! She said they’re working on posting it on Taurus so it officially says “equivalent to Pharmacology for Nursing”. @noramaye

Thank you for following back up!

This is great news! I may end up withdrawing from Cayuga’s offering and completing this instead because it’s (a) less expensive and (b) self paced. ☺️
Thanks, again, cohort friend!

Great, thanks for updating us!!

Hey yall! Was anyone else waitlisted? I've completed all my pre-reqs already. Going to retake pharm next semester -- any suggestions of places to take it besides UB?

Morning! I got waitlisted as well - if you go through some of the previous posts in this thread  you’ll see details for taking pharm through Cayuga CC and Portage Learning

Random questions:

1. Has anyone’s plan for completing remaining prerequisites changed since the time of your application? For example, you put down in your game plan to complete a course at school X but after reconsideration you are completing the prereq at school Y? From your experience is the program amenable to those changes?

2. Did anyone complete the optional scholarship piece?
