Hi everyone! I am taking the prerequisites I need to apply to the University at Buffalo ABSN program, to hopefully start in May 2021. I was wondering if anyone has any idea which types of applicants tend to get in (what kind of experience they have, etc.), and how much they value healthcare experience. Any input at all about the program is greatly appreciated!

Thanks! I’m volunteering at a hospice, both clerical and clinical. I have an opportunity to maybe work in covid testing and I’m also wondering if my non healthcare volunteer experience will have an impact. My GPA isn’t the best, 3.05, but I’m acing my prereqs so far so that should bump it up. Looking for any way I can to make my application stand out next Fall. Wish they took letters of rec.
I would bet your non healthcare volunteer experience would also have an impact - I volunteered as a rape crisis/domestic violence counselor for 5 years, which I'm assuming had some impact. My undergrad (non-prereq) GPA was 3.1 or 3.2, around there. Sounds like you have a lot going for you, good luck!

Thank You, that gives me hope! Congrats and best of luck with your program.

Hey all, I was wondering if someone could tell me what the resume portion on the application looked like? Did they simply want to know where/when your work or volunteer experience was. Or did they want more specific details like number of clinical hours, responsibilities, etc?
