Hi everyone! I am taking the prerequisites I need to apply to the University at Buffalo ABSN program, to hopefully start in May 2021. I was wondering if anyone has any idea which types of applicants tend to get in (what kind of experience they have, etc.), and how much they value healthcare experience. Any input at all about the program is greatly appreciated!

I'm applying this cycle as well! The admissions coordinator (not sure I'm allowed to name names on here) said that the 4 things they look at when making a decision are: prereq GPA, cumulative GPA, resume, and essay/video responses. They definitely seem to take a more holistic approach than a few other programs I'm applying to so I think having any strong applicable experience will be an advantage! Good luck!

Hey I’m applying to Buffalo as well! Recently started my application and am working on my essay response. I’m actually currently a student at UB going into my senior year!
Finally just finished my application essay and got it down to 2000 characters, now all I have left is to sit down and record my video response! How are you guys doing?
Hey! Submitted my application a few weeks ago, now we wait! ?

I applied too. Good luck everyone!
Does anyone know if UB’s ABS has critical care rotations? I know Brockport definitely does and pretty sure Binghamton does not. Wondering how Buffalo’s program compares to these other SUNYs! If anyone has any other info about UB’s clinicals for the ABS program, that’d be great too!

Hello everyone! I also applied...fingers crossed! Good luck to all of you! ?
Does anyone know if they contact employers? I am currently employed, but I requested that they don't contact them as they are unaware that I am applying to nursing school...I just don't know if that looks bad ?

Did anyone who applied to UB also happen to apply to Niagara University?
@AudreySchultz I am not sure but I would hope they understand that many applicants are working and can't tell their employer yet. I selected the same option on my application. @hopefulfuturern1 sorry, I only applied to UB.
