I'm facing the same decision, also living on the Island. Personally I really wanted the PT program to spread out the program requirements and not rush things. I was pretty disappointed to hear they are essentially doubling the cost of the UNBC program by classifying you as a FT student despite the program being spread out. So, paying FT tuition for a longer period, and also factoring in the cost of traveling north at least 3x over the course of the program (although you may have to travel for UVIC as well). I am leaning toward UVIC but mostly for financial/convenience reasons, I can't really speak to the course content. I think just like BSN programs, there are some very conflicting outsider/insider perspectives, national rankings don't seem to be based on criteria that really impact the student learning experience, you'll get out what you put in etc etc. If you're into rural practice UNBC probably has more to offer there. If you're staying in an urban island community maybe less of a difference. I am already almost done the stats course though so I don't really have to factor that in.

I am waiting to hear back from UNBC's Finance Department in regards to their fee structure with the new stream.  Apparently the financial board meets in March to set the fees for the upcoming Sept start.  They announced their change from the P/T & F/T program to the 2.75 year program in a webinar they had early August 2023 (recording was available until last month), but otherwise did not make the change clear.  Essentially, the government doubled their seats from 20 to 40 students and creating one 2.75 year stream made the most sense for them.  Apparently a lot of students were enrolling in F/T and switching to P/T or stretching their P/T out to the max allowable and they wouldn't be able to manage that with double the seats.  Unfortunately they didn't post the new calendar stream until last month.  So the current fee structure is not reflective of the new stream.  As soon as I get word from the Finance Department I will let you know!

Same. 🙂

Does anyone know the layout/timing of the UVic classes (asynchronous vs. synchronous, daytime vs. evening etc.)?

FYI for those on the waitlist, offers need to be responded to by April 22.

2 semesters into UVic. Unfortunately they've been kind of all over the map with when synchronous classes happen. Both our semesters have had: 1) NP courses on Thursday mornings from 9-12.  2) MN core courses in evenings, variable days. Term 1 it was Thursday evenings from 5-8. They're still trying to improve letting us know sooner when synchronous stuff is happening but it's a work in progress.

You will likely have on campus orientation the last weekend in August. Then no other onsite visits until May/June.

Congrats everyone, welcome to UVic :)

Hey, I did too. Yeah I think that's just what it's going to say until a seat is either offered or... I'm not going to think about that. Haha

I applied to UVIC and UBC. My status on UVIC says recommended by department and I did not receive any email. I never received a waitlist email either. I'm assuming they're in the process of sending the official letter?

I applied to the post-degree route.

Is it safe to assume that we've been accepted?
