University of British Columbia (UBC) BSN September 2016 Applicants

Published

For all of us applying to UBC's BSN 2016 program, let's communicate, share and give encouragement to one another throughout the process.

I just submitted my general UBC application to get the ball rolling early, and it already gave me access to get started on my supplemental application. This is my second time applying, so I hope to do a better job on my app this year and at least get an interview. But I have also accepted that this may not be my fate and I have other options.

Incidentally, to others who also applied previously: I phoned to make sure all my transcripts were still on file, and they are not! UBC admissions discards everything from last year. So I have six transcripts to send in again (including high school). Expensive and time consuming, and also seems a little crazy in the age of computers that they didn't keep electronic copies. But, we do what we have to do... Good luck everyone!

Hi Julianth,

I was wondering if you applied for Kwantlen Post Bacc for Sept 2016 as well?

Hi Julianth,

I was wondering if you applied for Kwantlen Post Bacc for Sept 2016 as well?

Yes. I did. I wanted to have options, but I am choosing UBC. Kwantlen facilities are phenomenal though!

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted! :)

I was placed on the reserve list. Anyone else here on the reserve list?

Hey all! First time poster, first time applicant. I was accepted yesterday, and I couldn't be more excited!

Hey guys, the offers are now up on SSC, be ready to make a $500 deposit.

Does anyone have insight on what the interview "marking scheme" was based on or how they scored them? I am just very curious.

@julianth I've been following some of your posts and it's great to hear that you've gotten into UBC! I've applied for the Kwantlen Post Bacc, but I'll be in the 2nd round. I was just trying to determine if there will be any seats left from the first round and you were the only person I could actually msg! Thanks for replying back and all the best to you. (='.'=)

Hey Apapuchi, I was also placed on the reserve list. I'm number 19 so I really have no idea what to think. I've heard that sometimes only the top 10 get in, but other years almost everyone on the reserve list has been offered a place. I guess we just have to keep waiting...

To kschribe, I started the program with OCSmash last September as well (she's a lovely person!) and yes they take in exactly 120. They have to because they make you split yourselves into 6 groups of 20 for the order you do rotations in (everyone does the various specializations in a different order- so choose wisely! The group you register in is the one you'll be in for the two years) Anyways, that's another story- if anyone wants advice/pros/cons of which group to register in feel free to drop me a line. But to answer your question, precisely 120... No more for logistical reasons... No less for financial reasons.

And a hearty congratulations to all of you who got in!!! I'm so excited for you all :) I've followed this thread closely over the past few months and it's been a pleasure to see that many of you were accepted! Those of us in the upper cohort will see you at orientation :)

Prepare for fast paced like you've never known before and to work hard (really hard!), but You'll see that this program blows by so quickly-- I can't believe July 29th we're done year 3- and 5/7 different clinical rotations! You're going to love it (even on the days you think you don't!) You will have a lot of people to support you through the highs and lows in your own cohort- and from ours!

Proud of you all!

Hey MrFuturern2np Advice on which groups to register would be awesome. I don't know anyone coming into this cohort so I can't go off that, nor am I familiar with the rotations.. any help would be great thanks!

Hi ajay8, thanks so much for replying! It feels nice to connect with someone who is in the same boat. I am #9 and also have no idea what to think. I assume applicants on the reserve list won't receive any offers until around June 15, when those who were offered spots have to confirm/decline their offers? The uncertainty is a bit nerve-wracking...but you're right, we just have to wait!

Keeping my fingers crossed...Best of luck! :)
