For all of us applying to UBC's BSN 2016 program, let's communicate, share and give encouragement to one another throughout the process.
I just submitted my general UBC application to get the ball rolling early, and it already gave me access to get started on my supplemental application. This is my second time applying, so I hope to do a better job on my app this year and at least get an interview. But I have also accepted that this may not be my fate and I have other options.
Incidentally, to others who also applied previously: I phoned to make sure all my transcripts were still on file, and they are not! UBC admissions discards everything from last year. So I have six transcripts to send in again (including high school). Expensive and time consuming, and also seems a little crazy in the age of computers that they didn't keep electronic copies. But, we do what we have to do... Good luck everyone!
hii everyonei am new in the group and have been selected in the 2016 cohort. can anyone guide me for setting up appointment for the immunisation.
You have to call UBC Health Services at 604 822 7011 and make 2 appointments (2 days apart) for an immunization review. And then you just bring all your records when you see the nurse
Hi guys! Has anyone on the reserve list received an offer yet? I just emailed Ruxandra, but she's probably swamped atm.
Hi pleaseletmein, I'm on the reserve list, too, and haven't heard anything yet. Has Ruxandra replied to your email ? When she does, would you please kindly update us on what she says? I would really appreciate it :)
I have a feeling that people on the reserve list may have to wait a while and be patient when it comes to the second round of offers. People who have received offers have till June 15 to accept/decline, so it would make sense that administration would wait for the majority of declines to arrive before sending out more offers...although, I really do wish they did it on a one declined-one offered basis, so everyone has more time to get prepared. Im keeping my fingers crossed for everyone.
Anyone from upper cohort please tell me whether we have classes on saturday and sunday.
No you wont ever have classes on Saturdays/Sundays, but you may have clinical Saturdays/Sundays (but you have some say in this when you select your site preferences each term/rotation on HSP net- the system still chooses at random from your picks though).
HSPnet is the province-wide system that organizes BC nursing students into days/times/places for clinical education. Youll log in once a term to indicate your picks.
I should add to clarify though, that you will always have at least two days a week off from classes and clinical, though they may not be Saturdays and Sundays.
Example:
If in term 1 you have clinical on Sat/Sun, you may get Tues/Weds off (2x 8hr clinical days)
In subsequent terms the clinical requirement is 24hrs/week, so you may have clinical Wed-Fri (8hrs x 3) or you may have it Thurs/Fri for 12hrs with classes Mon/Tues and thus, Weds, Sat, Sun off (which is the schedule I prefer by far-personally didn't get it for the current time rotation C, but will have it for the last 6 weeks of this year in June/July rotation D. Woot!)
