For all of us applying to UBC's BSN 2016 program, let's communicate, share and give encouragement to one another throughout the process.
I just submitted my general UBC application to get the ball rolling early, and it already gave me access to get started on my supplemental application. This is my second time applying, so I hope to do a better job on my app this year and at least get an interview. But I have also accepted that this may not be my fate and I have other options.
Incidentally, to others who also applied previously: I phoned to make sure all my transcripts were still on file, and they are not! UBC admissions discards everything from last year. So I have six transcripts to send in again (including high school). Expensive and time consuming, and also seems a little crazy in the age of computers that they didn't keep electronic copies. But, we do what we have to do... Good luck everyone!
Hey baldeagle...I'm right there with you in hating the wait...you're definitely not alone. As for my comment of my experience being ten years ago, I should've said that the best of my experiences were ten years ago, had I had the courage and insight to apply to the UBC Nursing program 5 years ago, my supplemental would've been a whole other category...mind you, I was a much different person then, and although the me of ten years ago looks better on paper, the present me will make a much better nurse. I've read your postings from previous years, and am keeping my fingers crossed for you (I wish reapplying counted for something).
Im sure everyone on this forum is tired of constantly refreshing their email, checking their junk mail folder, and reading this for the thousandth time...at least they are thankful for our patience : )

I certainly hope your right, I've got a small but amazing community and am so grateful for them. Right now, an interview feels like a far away dream, and I'm trying to not get my hopes up, but they are up. There are just so many factors to consider in this process, and it feels impossible to predict...As for me, my academics scores are great, better than I thought I would do...my previous academic history was terrible, so I spent 2015 completing 30 transferable credits through AU (I pretty much lived in coffee shops), but wrote my 2015 supplemental more like a resume (BIG MISTAKE). It would be so amazing to get into this program...its hard to focus on anything else right now.
Exactly, it was very much point form, stating what I have done professionally, then point form on volunteer experience etc...I actually wish I had found this forum back in 2015...fortunately, after my first rejection, I spent a lot of time talking with people who were already within the program and realized my error...My latest application is a lot more personal, it talks a lot about my life experience and how it has influenced my decision to choose nursing, and how it has influenced my perspectives on care. My main goal with this application was to tell my life's arc and encourage someone who reads it to want to meet me...I hope it works :)
Hello, I also applied to the September intake for 2016. I'm doing my bachelor of Science at the U of A and will be graduating this June. I've read from other forums that they send out the interview invitations somewhere between March 21 and April 4. I've also read a variety of different types of people getting in or not getting in - ie. those with a very high GPA and little volunteering, those with lower GPA and lots of volunteering, and vice versa. So I think it's pretty much impossible to guess whether you'll get in or not, which makes it so much worse to wait.
On the bright side, we are the people who have the insight to realize how unpredictable the selection process really is...think of the people who think they are an absolute shoe-in just because they meet the requirements and submitted the supplemental on time. Mind you, a rejection will hurt just the same, if not more if you are person who knows every angle of the process...Aaaarggghhh!, just want the wait to be over! Its like being blindfolded and told that when the drumroll ends you will either get your hearts greatest desire or be shot, but the drumroll just keeps going.

Hey @NERVOUS IN VAN, I was just reading your posts over and I realized that you mentioned your experiences were ten years ago!? I hope you meant to say was that it was hard to find expereinces that were within 5 years, because on the supplemental they specifically asked for the recent 5 years of experience!
