Universities with prearranged NP Practicums

Nursing Students NP Students

Does anyone here have a list of Universities that pre-arrange practicums for NP students? I am so sick and tired of trying to find my own while trying to go to school and work. This is absolutely absurd! I am single (without children) and I am willing to relocate to another state if necessary.

Also what are the chances that I could transfer to another school this late in the game? I have two classes left before practicums begin.

Thanks for any responses.

UConn arranges them if need be. They encourage you do to your own if you have connections from your RN career, but will do it for you if not.

In reply to Jules A:

They are all DNPs, and most have been NPs for 10 years or more. They are all adult and/or acute care, as that is my track. Some do procedures, like bronchs, chest tubes etc.

Thanks for replying this is good to know. I knew they were all DNPs so my experience is possibly psych specific where collectively instructors and preceptors have been very light on experience.

The 4 hours per week or whatever they have to practice to maintain their cert is less than impressive if they don't have a strong background in practice. At the minimum 4 hours per week to maintain certification, which is all many can do with full time faculty duties, it would take 10 years to achieve one year of full time NP practice. Just something for prospective students to consider because your skill and style will mimic your mentors.

Johns Hopkins arranges for preceptors. They also have some post-master's programs that are 100% online.

My understanding is both Seattle U and Oregon Health and Sciences U provide preceptors for students. I do not know specific details, just what I've heard through the grape-vine of students attending these programs.
