Hi my name is Maria, I'm currently in the process for applying to Unitek in Bakersfield. I'm simply posting to see if anyone else was in the same boat.

I understand now, I found out about the school from a friend of mine who is currently in the program and she has friends who have graduated from the program and are actively working as RNs in California they took the NCLEX in Florida and had the license endorsed in California and based on that, I believed that the school was a legitimate, fully accredited RN program. And majority of the students that were enrolled in the program were from California.

What if they lied?  I would find out for yourself. Big Drama Show!

I’m just about to start applying for nursing schools. I’m looking at unitek college at Bakersfield. I looked at their website on what the requirements will be and it’s not stated there. Can someone help me with that? Thank you.

how many people have actually applied for the loan they talk about to pay for education or is everyone paying the deposit and monthly fees??

Wondering how the lvn to BSN is going for those that started last year? Anyone have a AA or AS along with LVN a and prerequisites done? I’m aiming to get into LVN program at an adult school, then would like to bridge LVN to BSN at unitek. Wondering the cost if you already have GE done?

So I had talked with Unitek about the BSN program and told them that I had done all of my pre requirements and wanted to apply. They told me that I wouldn't be able to apply for the BSN program because I had already done my pre requirements and the first semester for BSN is literally the pre requirements. So I had told them if they can exempt the first year for me because another nursing school I talked to does that. They said no and that if I really want to do BSN then I have to retake 6 pre requirement classes just to be in the program... Then they said that I should do LVN ($35,401.00) for 1 year and then apply for the RN advance placement which is another $92,811.00 which a 10,000 scholarship = $82,000.00 for 2 years. I'm all for doing LVN which is not a bad option but I feel that there are more affordable places ..... After hearing this I felt that was weird because I never heard of a nursing program turning a student away from a BSN because they finished their pre requirements usually it's because of their GPA or test scores...  So if I go the route they told me I would spend $118,407.00.... I'd rather find a cheaper LVN school or do a ADN IDK... Let me know if anyone else heard anything different.

Hi Maria

I applied unitek Bakersfield back in April and is esay to get into the BSN program, I heard the admission rep said they don't have much applicants so is less competitive compare to Fremont campus. I got accepted to the BSN program however I declined the offer because my interest rate for the student loan was too high. I got my LVN license from Fremont campus back in 2013.

Hi I know this post is a year later but I was also looking into BSN at Unitek and had finished all my nursing pre requirements at a different college. They told be straight up that I can't apply to BSN because I had already done my pre requirements which was weird because I never heard of this. They said that the BSN program first year is all the pre requirements. I had told them if they can exempt me from first year but they said they can't due to their policy. So they said I have the option of LVN which I have no problem but then it's super expensive if I do LVN and then transition to their RN Advance placement afterwards I'm still kind of confused because I never heard a nursing school not accepting someone because they've completed the nursing pre requirements. Has anyone have the same problem? Let me know because I'm confused on what I should do.

Hello. I am also in the process of applying for the BSN program here at Bakersfield. If someone is already in the program, how is it going for them? And how is the acceptance chance of getting into the program? I'm scared of getting not accepted.

Are you applying for the term that starts next week? I too have all of my prereqs so I wonder what they will tell me. There's no way I want to repeat courses to be in their program.

I'm applying for august next year for the 3 year program which has all the prereqs included online for a year before clinicals in person.
