Union County Community College QUESTIONS

Hi,

Union County College and Trinitas School of nursing are a cooperative program. When you finish the program you receive an Associates Degree and a nursing diploma from Trinitas.

Trinitas is a private nursing school,but affiliated with UCC for all the credit courses required for Nursing.

When you sign up for EGHN-Nursing program,which is with TRINITAS,you can attend all your credit classes at UCC campuses.

{ Biology,Chemistry,Microbiology,Sociology etc.}

Nursing classes are held only at Elizabeth Campus-5th floor which is A TRINITAS NURSING FLOOR.

When you graduate,you get Nursing Diploma at Nursing Graduation ceremony

& An Associated Degree at UCC Graduation ceremony.

You can OPT for only Nursing Diploma if you already have a Bachelors.

I understand there is already a UCC / Trinitas thread, but it didnt answer my question!

Anyway, I have been on UCC's website and Trinitas' website and am still not 100% clear. My question is - if you enrol in an Associate Degree in Nursing Program at UCC does that mean that you are actually enrolling in both UCC And Trinitas? Can you get an Associates in Nursing just from attending UCC?

My main concern here is the difference in tuition between a Community College and a private nursing school.

Healing Hand..I already have a BA in a non-nursing field. How long would it take me to just go only for the Nursing Diploma??

Think about this .

You have to do AnatomyPhysiology,Chemistry,English 1 and 2,Sociology,Microbiology,Psychology,Child psychology,Humanities (2)

all as prerequisites.If you already ahve done some of it,it cuts down your time for these credit courses.

But Nursing 130-131-132-231 and 232 will require 5 semester,that accounts for 2+ years as they do not offer clinical semesters in summer.

This time line is applicable only if you are doing pre and co-requisites simultaneously.If you are planning to finish pre-requisites and then do Nursing classes,the total time may increase.

So take the whole course line sit down and plan out how you want to go about it.

Best bet is trying to do all credit courses in summer.It's easier,faster and lives you stressfree when you are being grilled in Nursing classes.

Your BA will help you to speed up your BSN- or MSN .There are programs which offer you MSN if you have RN and Bachelors in a Non nursing field.Right now you have to follow the generic path like everyone else.You can benefit only if you have done the samepre-requisites.

Thanks so much for this post. I currently live in NYC and was doing research on this school for the diploma only program since I already have a non nursing BS. I am applying to Trinista and St Paul's however I have just heard that St Paul's is not NLN accredited and that scares me a bit.

this is one reason why i didn't apply to st. pauls...i did apply to lichson & ucc. i received an acceptance letter to ucc, i'm due to register next week. i live in nyc aswell & i'm nervous about the commute...but i won't know how it effects me till i try, so many others do it and thier making it work. so far all i need is the nur courses & the soc course, the humanities courses? idk have to speak to an advisor about that!!! i wonder if my taking nutrition counts as one of the humanities classes?...but i'm transferring all the other pre-reqs from my previous college. in my mind still holding out/praying for a lichson acceptance...

I ended up not applying to Union because when I went to speak to someone they mentioned something about needing an amount of points which can only be acquired by taking classes there. Once the points have been acquired then will you get an invitation. So I dont think I am going to go through that hassle if I already have two bach's and all the pre reqs.

Now I am going to apply to NYU 15 month accelerated program at the end ill have a BSN instead of a ASN.

But goodluck, I am sure your going to do great. Keep your chin up, its going to be tough BUT you CAN do it. I am pretty sure the tough part will be all the time needed for the program not the content it self.
