UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello fellow pre-nursing students! This is a thread for those who are applying to The University of North Georgia's Nursing Program to start Fall 2019. Share your stats, HESI tips, and eventually acceptance/rejection notices. I am a post-baccalaureate transfer student and am re-taking science courses this Fall which have expired. I'm taking the HESI in about a month. Good luck to all who are applying!

Ahhh I was just about to ask too! I'm super anxious. I'm taking A&P 2 now and am not motivated at all and won't be until I have a letter.

I considering UTC-Chattanooga...I don't really have a back up plan, which is terrible.

How about you?

I'm taking A&P2 too! I also have zero motivation this semester lol! I was going to apply to GSU but they pushed the deadline to Feb 15 without notice so I can't make it for the fall semester. I'm also considering GGC but i'm behind a semester of pre-reqs that they want!

So i'm praying on UNG lol seems like we're on the same boat ?

Yes, I actually did start the GSU app thinking I could somehow take the TEAS in time to apply for Fall 2019 but.. I'm just going to wait and see.

Who do you have A&P 2 with?

I'm not a UNG student actually, i'm a transfer from GSU :)

How is everyone holding up anxiously waiting for letters to come out? ?

Did you guys only apply to UNG's program or did anyone apply to any other schools in the area?

I’m feeling super anxious lately! I’m dying to know one way or another. Even if I’m rejected, I just want to know! I’m currently taking CHEM 1, MICRO, and a Computer Science class, which is keeping me busy and helping to keep my mind occupied. I only have CHEM 2 and Spanish left before I complete my prerequisites, which I’m registered to take in the Summer.

I only applied to UNG’s program, so I don’t really have much of a plan B at the moment besides just continuing to work, reapplying for Spring 2020, and retaking the HESI in October, if need be. I have two young daughters, so my options of schools that offer BSN programs around where I live that are both close and affordable are very limited.

Counting down every day until we find out!

I'm a little anxious also. It seems that the days are creeeepping by. Literally every student except one in my micro class has applied to the program or is going to apply for Spring 2020. The general consensus is that we will get The E-Mail in March, but it could be the end of February. I'm super motivated to study and I've actually bought some used nursing books for specialties (perinatal nursing, medsurg, etc) just to flip through in my free time. I think this is how the anticipation and stress is manifesting for me, personally.

Think positive ladies! It won't be long now ?

Hey there!

I have applied to the Nursing Program for Fall 2019 with a 3.59 GPA and an 87 HESI score. I am very nervous regarding my status and am anxiously awaiting that email either accepting me or rejecting me! Even though I am a bit below average I won't give up!

Anyone have any idea what my chances are for Fall 2019? This semester I am taking my Chem 1151 and Microbiology class, leaving me with Chem 1152 to take over the summer!

Hey! I'm sure they use different stats when deciding like your science GPA too! Someone posted a point system on how they decide on applicants which makes sense. I know a lot of uni's utilize the points system when deciding. Good luck! Ace those sciences ? I'm anxious to know yes or no too at this point!

Letters for Fall 2018 were sent out on February 27th, 2018. It’s getting so close for us!

I spoke with a Pre-Nursing advisor on the Gainesville campus last Tuesday. She said she had heard the committee had some "technical difficulties so it probably will be later, in March" for this cohort. Not what I wanted to hear...

I'm so anxious!!

My GPA won't change much after this semester; if I make an A in A&P2 it will only go up 0.01. So the only way I could be move competitive for Spring 2020 is to retake the HESI...which no one wants to do...

She also told me the committee is constantly changing the course list for NURSING. There is a chance NURS 2603, that is normally taken over the Summer, might get pushed to Fall.

Oh no! I hope we can hear back sooner. ?

What do you mean by pushing the NURS course? Like taking it with the rest of the fall credits and having the summer semester off?

Yes. I was informed about this by my advisor on Monday, as well. They haven’t confirmed the switch yet, but I was told that we are more than likely going to be taking NURS 2603 in the fall, rather than in the summer, if we are accepted. She said they’ve had many issues with people taking it the semester prior to the program because many students are still finishing their last prerequisites then, as well.

I really hope we don’t have to wait until March to find out! I’m already checking my email 100 times a day as it is ?

I am so scared y'all! I'm super curious as to what technical difficulties they are having because they literally only judge use by our GPA and HESI scores. I'm basically average with Hesi score of 88.5 and GPA of 3.47 so I really wish I could knock on the committee's door and beg for them to take me in the program or at least give me my rejection letter XD. Do y'all know of any other nursing programs that are in Georgia? I heard that Piedmont already got their letters out but I also heard that Piedmont's program is very known for being MERCILESS and difficult. I know that nursing is going to be really rough but I'm not sure about busting my mental and physical(I forget to eat sometimes lol) health.
