Hello fellow pre-nursing students! This is a thread for those who are applying to The University of North Georgia's Nursing Program to start Fall 2019. Share your stats, HESI tips, and eventually acceptance/rejection notices. I am a post-baccalaureate transfer student and am re-taking science courses this Fall which have expired. I'm taking the HESI in about a month. Good luck to all who are applying!
Are any of you using PocketPrep? It looks helpful but i'm not sure if I should spend another $25 on something else
The app I used was only $15, and I definitely think it was worth it because it enables you to test your knowledge and identify areas of weakness so that you can focus your study more in those areas. It's called Hesi A2 Pocket Prep.
Yup that's the one! I guess they upped their price because it's 25 now, oh wellWhat would you guys recommend studying for the A&P section? I haven't taken A&P 2, i'm taking A&P 1 right now! I'm nervous over the A&P 2 section, pocket prep is mostly A&P 2 material from what i've noticed.
It's hard to say exactly bc the questions were so random for me. Some were very specific and others were vague. I'd definitely make sure you understand broad concepts, how the organ systems work together, important hormones, etc.
I waaaaaay over studied for the A&P section for the HESI. I was expecting really tough, detailed questions, but I was pleasantly surprised by how basic most of the A&P questions were. There were a few tricky ones, but most of the questions were basic functions of the body systems, or questions like "where in the body would you find the femur?" And the answers options were like "arm, leg, head, or face." (I made that question up, but there were some that really were that basic). Every exam is different from what I've heard though, so you may receive tougher questions. I'd just make sure you understand the basic concepts of the body systems, planes, and such.
Hey guys! Nice to meet you all! I just applied to the program again. I tried for the program for SP 2019 but didn't get accepted, with HESI score of 85 and GPA of 3.5. I just retook the HESI and I'm lowkey angry because mine had mostly skeletal system on there which I haven't looked at since January! A&P II didn't go over skeletal so I was screwed LOL.
But I made an 88.5 this time, 90s on everything except the A&P, which I made an 84 on T-T and my GPA is probaly going to be like a 3.47 if I get a C in Microbiology. I don't know guys, I feel like I'm not a very competitive applicant and I swear that they don't just look at our HESI and GPA! No way! I've meet people with high scores and GPA that didn't get in while people with lower GPA's and scores than me got in. I'd much rather they require an essay instead of getting to know us through that personality test XD

Hi misako!
I also have heard/read differing stories of acceptance with varying GPAs and HESI scores. Perhaps the personality test is a factor. Any successful program would likely want a variety of personality and learning types present, but it's very likely that the curriculum is better suited to specific ones. It's also very likely that some people miscalculate their GPAs, or perhaps their science/prerequisite GPA is low. With all of the applicants, there are probably some factors that the department uses for tie-breakers. I wish you the best and hope you are accepted! I am hoping to be accepted as well. I have a fall-back plan, and I'd recommend everyone have one just in case.
