UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

Published

Hello fellow pre-nursing students! This is a thread for those who are applying to The University of North Georgia's Nursing Program to start Fall 2019. Share your stats, HESI tips, and eventually acceptance/rejection notices. I am a post-baccalaureate transfer student and am re-taking science courses this Fall which have expired. I'm taking the HESI in about a month. Good luck to all who are applying!

Yes. I was informed about this by my advisor on Monday, as well. They haven’t confirmed the switch yet, but I was told that we are more than likely going to be taking NURS 2603 in the fall, rather than in the summer, if we are accepted. She said they’ve had many issues with people taking it the semester prior to the program because many students are still finishing their last prerequisites then, as well.

I really hope we don’t have to wait until March to find out! I’m already checking my email 100 times a day as it is ?

Okaaaay I could deal with that lol. It would be helpful since a still have two or three pre-reqs I need to do over the summer if I am accepted. Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep my eye out for that ?

I am so scared y'all! I'm super curious as to what technical difficulties they are having because they literally only judge use by our GPA and HESI scores. I'm basically average with Hesi score of 88.5 and GPA of 3.47 so I really wish I could knock on the committee's door and beg for them to take me in the program or at least give me my rejection letter XD. Do y'all know of any other nursing programs that are in Georgia? I heard that Piedmont already got their letters out but I also heard that Piedmont's program is very known for being MERCILESS and difficult. I know that nursing is going to be really rough but I'm not sure about busting my mental and physical(I forget to eat sometimes lol) health.

Lol! What is your science GPA? I'm sure they use that too so it can help!

There's a lot of different programs in GA depending on whatever you're looking for and what suits you best distance wise! The only programs I know of that take the HESI are brenau and ung, the others make you take the TEAS exam that I am trying to avoid ?

I, unfortunately, have a pretty low science GPA of 3.0. It's because of chem 1 with a really bad professor and I made the horrible decision of taking micro with A&P II together(I had to get a C in micro for an A in A&P II). I totally agree with you that taking the TEAS is much more work because some places require you to take it at their campus and some are 3 hours from where I live!

Hey guys! Thanks for sharing your updates. I haven’t heard anything in my classes besides what I posted last so it’s good to not feel totally in the dark about everything. I hope we don’t have to wait until March!

Im a little confused about taking the drug calculations class in the fall vs summer. Isn’t it online? Why would it matter if someone is taking prereqs at the same time? What complications are they talking about? It seems to me that it would be more stressful adding that class to the first semester of nursing than in the summer.

That's what I was thinking! I think there may have been a lot of people who applied this fall and maybe they're thinking about how many people they want to accept fully and which ones to put on the waitlist. Overall, they really should notify those who applied if something like this is happening. Honestly, this is such a mess with possibly changing the curriculum and delaying acceptance letters.

Hey guys,

I spoke with someone from the nursing department and was told that there have been no technical difficulties with this or any cohort and that we can expect our letters to go out as planned between the last week of February and the first week of March.

From my understanding, they are considering pushing the NURS course back to the fall because they’ve experienced several semesters where students had difficulties taking several remaining prerequisites along with the NURS course and they are hoping this will help to ease the transition into the nursing program.

I hope this helps to clarify a few things for everyone!

I hope they can surprise us and send the letters out this upcoming week lol! Either way I hope they can at least maybe give us a choice to take the nursing course in the summer or the fall term, I think that could work better since maybe not everyone is completing pre-reqs and have the chance to do it over the summer!

Thanks for keeping us updated guys!

I agree- I’ll be done w prereqs in April so I’d prefer to take it over the summer (if accepted). Hopefully they will offer it as a choice ?
