Nurses Career Support

Has anyone heard from UNC, Duke, or Duke Regional for the 2014 New Grad positions? My profile still shows under consideration.

I have applied to both and both still just say under consideration. You must have a kick butt resume etc to be getting so many looks! That Is awesome!!!

Thanks! I'll share my secrets.. after I get a job offer ;)

That would be awesome! Once you get your offers if you would shoot me an email at [email protected] I would really appreciate it!!! Feel like I'm a pretty good candidate (2nd career, 3.6 gpa, already have have a bachelors degree from UNC in another field) but it's just a matter of getting someone to notice and look at your stuff, you know?

That's the most important part - and the hardest. The "thanks, but no thanks" emails my classmates got said 770 resumes for 70 positions, so standing out is HUGE

Wow. 770 is a ton. Makes me feel lucky to even have an interview at Duke. Haven't heard anything from UNC though. Hopefully Duke will just work out so I don't have to worry!

I applied to Rex as well but Ive been under review too. 770 is outrageous! This market is crazy. Goodluck everyone! :D

Applied to Duke and UNC - got interviews at both. Went to my interview at Duke Regional and was offered a position in the OR, which I obviously jumped on!

Thats awesome, @flying_ace2!! I know you must be relieved! About how long did it take for Duke to get back to you with an offer after the interview??

Thank you so much!!!! It is a HUGE weight off my shoulders! They emailed me the day I interviewed and asked me to come back and shadow in the OR for a few hours. I got the official offer within a week. From application to offer, the whole process only took about a month. Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!

Flying_Ace2, did the UNC recruiter call you about salary and benefits BEFORE your interview? She is calling me tomorrow to talk about that stuff, but my interview isn't even scheduled yet, and I (and a reference of mine who is an RN at UNC) thought it was kind of weird to talk about that before an offer was made? Just wondering if it's standard now, or if (fingers crossed) the nurse manager REALLY liked my resume/letter of introduction.

The nurse recruiter called with salary and benefits before my interview with UNC, and I was also given the benefit information, but not the salary info, before my interview with Duke. I guess it's common practice now? Kind of a unusual, I agree! Good luck on your interview!

I had my phone interview with nurse recruitment earlier this week. It was more like an information session about salary and benefits. My interview with the nurse manager is scheduled for after April 14, which is after the EPIC install period.
