Hello everyone! I may be a little early with this, but here's a new post for all of you hoping to apply this September 2nd for the Spring 2015 semester at UMSON. You can post questions you have, helpful advice you would like to give (if you're already in the program), etc.
I specifically have a question for those who have already applied to the Spring 2014 semester and got in. When you applied last September, when in November did you get your acceptance letter in the mail? Was it the beginning, middle, or toward the end of November? I'm asking this because the other nursing school I am applying to only gives a 3-week time period after the end of October (when they let you know if you made it in or not) to accept or decline enrollment. So, if I don't make it into UMSON, I'd want to be able to give this other nursing school an answer before the 3-week time period runs out.
Based on my past history, I'd bet dollars to donuts that I'll be waitlisted. Not the end of the world. I still have Towson, in spite of some odd bureaucratic hoops to jump through. (Apparently an A in EN101, a passing EN101CLEP score, and an A in EN102 won't suffice. It's going to cost me $90 and two essays!!!) I think my past experience with UMSON may have left a bad impression with them. The fact that I have no current medical experience certainly bumps me down a few notches. Overall GPA is 3.59, science GPA is 3.25 (mediocre,) and my TEAS was 88%. Decent, but not exceptional. The fact that I got in once upon a time is why I haven't given up hope entirely! I still check SURFS too often, but I think that'll dwindle by this time tomorrow. I have A LOT of other things going on now, so I need to focus on other tasks now! (Like the fact that I'm hosting my sister's baby shower on Sunday and am NOT ready! That's stressing me out more that school.)
Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Yeah, at the end of the day, I know I'll be in nursing school, and that's all that matters.
My response the the silliness of my English credits? UGH!!! I'm happy to be going to Towson, I just wish it was more streamlined. With regards to the application process, UMSON's is really streamlined and smooth. Towson's obviously has some friction. But I don't want to sound ungrateful. And hey, friction will just make me tougher, right?
As for SURFS, I'm going to stay away. It's more fun to check in here and see who got in! There's much more going on!
