Hello everyone! I may be a little early with this, but here's a new post for all of you hoping to apply this September 2nd for the Spring 2015 semester at UMSON. You can post questions you have, helpful advice you would like to give (if you're already in the program), etc.

I specifically have a question for those who have already applied to the Spring 2014 semester and got in. When you applied last September, when in November did you get your acceptance letter in the mail? Was it the beginning, middle, or toward the end of November? I'm asking this because the other nursing school I am applying to only gives a 3-week time period after the end of October (when they let you know if you made it in or not) to accept or decline enrollment. So, if I don't make it into UMSON, I'd want to be able to give this other nursing school an answer before the 3-week time period runs out.

Hi Amandac21, do you have healthcare experience? I know they take that into consideration as well. Thanks for posting.

usedtobecool84 yes I do. I am currently an office manager at a psychiatrist office. Other than that I have no other healthcare experience or volunteer experience.

Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted so far! Special thanks to amandac21 for posting the terms of your acceptance. I have been very worried since I don't have any Volunteer experience in the U.S. My fingers are very itchy right now trying to open UMSON's account every minute. I seen any post of acceptance today....so guys if you have heard anything please keep the news coming. It really gives me hope mine might on the way. Good luck to every one who is in the boat with me.

I am going to chime in because it seems as if everyone wants to see stats so they can compare against those that got in. I got into Baltimore's campus. I don't think there is a cookie-cutter way they chose. I will provide my stats:

1996-1999, CCBC, GPA 3.94

1999-2003, UofM, College Park, GPA 3.75, and

Current - CCBC, GPA 3.5 overall and 3.8 in Sciences.

I have finished all my pre-req's. TEAS was a 79% (I only took once with very little prep).

I work as a Nurse Technician (CNA&CMT) for Health & Human Services in the Montgomery County School System. In the most basic of terms I provide standard frontline school health room care to include first aide, emergency care, and administration of medications and treatments in routine and non-routine situations to students (the focus) and staff (emergency situations).

I also began volunteering at UofM Medical Center Shock Trauma, however I really had not started by the time applications were due.

hey guys! Congratulations to everyone and their acceptances. Hopefully I hear something soon. I keep checking SURFS. This can't be healthy lol Good luck to everyone else waiting along with me.

The people guaranteed admission just need a 3.0 to get in. So don't get discouraged if you don't have a 4.0 or perfect TEAS! I think they look at EVERYTHING. So If you have a 3.4 and great volunteer experience or a killer essay they will want you too (:

vigor145 To be a nurse technician did you have to have an experience or school work? Sounds like a cool job

Thanks Vigor145.

I am going to go ahead and leave my information to help all of those still wandering. To start I will say congratulations to those who have been already accepted! I received a provisional admit due to finishing up anatomy 2, microbiology, and human growth and development. My GPA prior to this semester was a 3.73. Of the science credits that I have completed I had a GPA of 3.7. I only took the TEAS one time, completely unprepared, and still hadn't completed some of the major science courses. my scores were:

Reading 81.0

Math 90.0

Science 60.4

English 73.3

i have been continuously CPR certified since I was 16, only 20. The only experience I have is lifeguard and my current job works with people and children. I went to a Wor-Wic community college for all of my prerequisites with the exception of those that I used from dual credit classes taken in high school. That being said I was able to know my professors a lot better due to small class size. They gave me fantastic recommendation letters. I do however have a lot of different areas of expertise on my resume that I have worked in. I think I put down that my mother is a nurse on there too. I also felt very confident with my essays.

hope this helps! If you have any questions please let me know!! Good luck!

I just got my call! The woman said that she changed the status online first then made calls because she knew people where waiting. She said that once we send in proof of the deposit that proper communication would be set up for orientation etc.

How much is the deposit and when's it due? anyone know?

Hoping they give us a few weeks to get it together if its a lot!
