Hello, all!
My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!
I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:
A: A&P 1
A: A&P 2
B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)
I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)
I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.
I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!
I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!
I have around a 3.1 GPA. I received a 82.7% on my TEAS (I took it twice thinking I would get a lot better the second time, not enough obviously, heh). I have healthcare experience working at a GI office for over 3 years and have worked at a hospital for about 9 months now. I finished all my pre-reqs, which I completed mostly in my first bachelor's degree at UMCP. During my time there, I had to retake Chemistry, regrettably, which probably looks really bad to admissions. I finished Nutrition and Microbiology over the summer and busted my butt to receive A's in both (again, obviously not enough) and got my two academic letters of recommendation from those professors. I guess my essays weren't as good as I thought they were... looking back at them I really could have done better.
I'll be honest, it was disappointing at first to see my status as "Wait listed" but now I feel like I have that weight off my chest. I kind of feel relieved to know my decision because I was kind of expecting it. It seemed too good to be true for me to get accepted no matter how many times I dreamt acceptance hehe. Wishful thinking. I guess I'll just forward my application to the next application cycle Fall 2016 and continue working the rest of the year. Perhaps take more classes to boost my GPA :)
I will say that I appreciate the encouragement and support everyone gives each other on here, though. I really do hope all of you who are still waiting hear really soon, I know how painful and frustrating the wait can be.
And I really am praying and hoping that the rest of you will get ACCEPTED :). Keep your heads up!
It's okay! I'm not unhappy, honestly just surprised that after being wait listed twice and having more experience with direct patient care than last time, that they didn't accept me. There must have been a lot more qualified people than me! Anyways I'll see you guys on the floor one dayyyyyy :)
It means you had a very competitive application. They put you in a giant pool. The times I was waitlisted I would call to ask what rank I was and they said they can't really rank people until everyyyyyybody's grades are in and people accept or reject their offers and blah blah blah. I think if you don't get an offer for a spot before Christmas break, then you're done. But that's usually how long it takes to get offered a spot
