Umson spring 2016 applicants

Published

Hello, all!

My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program :cat: I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!

I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:

A: A&P 1

A: A&P 2

B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)

I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)

I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.

I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!

I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!

I will have an hour drive in store for me to Shady Grove. I'd love to move closer, but the surrounding areas are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive...especially for a 20 year old :p So the commute will have to do...Besides, I will barely be working and I do not have a family, so I should be fine :)

@tflores I turned down my offer at Towson before I received a call or email. Two days later I got a call and I received my email today.

I am currently commuting a hour and a half to get to school. I look forward to next semester, shady grove is 2 mins from my apartment.

My status changed Monday but have not gotten a call yet. i didn't even know they did emails as well. I'm hoping I will get mine very soon.

if anyone needs a roommate for spring at the Baltimore campus, please let me know! Looking at these prices for these apartments is already stressing me out lol. And it'll be nice to room with student nurses :) btw, does anyone know how financial aid packages are done at UMSON for spring? I really need to know if they have enough money to cover my whole tuition and off campus lodging asap T.T

I would actually LOVE to have the experience of living in an apt with a roommate. But I waited so long to go back to school and now the boyfriend and animals would be mad at me for moving out :(

tflores, I think you just make sure you submit your FAFSA before the deadline next year either January or February? I'm not sure because I always used to submit FAFSA for the fall. But it has info on it on the UMSON website. And you can always contact their financial aid department for more reliable info.

I am one of those people that didn't file a 2015-2016 application until late August this year..lol. I didn't need it for the fall 2015 so I didn't bother filing for one, big mistake since I didn't know it covers Fall 2015 and spring 2016. When I applied to Towson, they still gave me an award package that can cover my tuition and lodging even though I filed it so late. so I hope that will be the same for UMB. I will have to contact them very soon once I get the letter/email.

Tflores same here! It's frustrating because I have been offered a spot at UMBC with them covering all my tuition, books, and boarding etc, but UMBC doesn't have a nursing major so it's useless to me :-( I'm like, come onnnnnnn why can't a school I could use it for offer me a great deal like that? Lol

How do you guys apply for that stuff? Im coming from a community college so I guess it's different. There wasn't anything about an award package in my acceptance paper work for Towson or stevenson. Do I have to meet with someone from financial aid or something?

Also, I'm an independent, poor 25 year old, lol. So I think I would have no problem getting aid?

@astran With you being independent, most likely you will be getting aid. You won't see it on the Towson acceptance letter, you'll have to file an application for 2015-2016 in FAFSA. I'm also from community college and I didn't need aid just yet so that's why I filed it so late. Since I'm an dependant and filed it so late, towson only gave me loans to cover my tuition but that's okay. At least I'm covered somehow lol. when you're done with your application, it'll ask you what schools you want them to send your information and that's when you'll put your schools such as Towson and UMSON. by then, you have done your part and you just have to wait until they have contacted you for your financial aid package. Hope this helps!

Not to sound like a broken record, but I hope today some of us hear something

Even though I know my status, I'm still checking this thread constantly hoping to hear good news from you guys that are waiting! hopefully at least one person hears back today
