UMSON Fall 2015

Published

REMINDER!!! The deadline to submit your Fall application is nearing. As of now, the deadline has not changed from February 2 (short of 4 weeks away).

This is my second time applying--I was wait listed for the Spring term. Currently, I am studying to take my TEAS exam again on January 27th. This exam was the only portion of my application I was not confident in. I scored a 70% without refreshing my memory on key concepts by studying before hand. I did find the test to be a "you either no it or you don't" kind of thing so from personal experience--STUDY!

I have no outstanding prerequisites and my sciences are as follows:

AP1. -- B

AP2. -- A

CHEM -- B

MICRO -- A

I had the privilege of chatting with the last group of students and found this forum to be quite helpful! Please use this post as a way of communicating, sharing experiences, and giving advice. Hopefully, we will be classmates in the Fall!:)

This week last year most people were informed of their decision! Hopefully it will be this week or early next week! I am so nervous!

Can we just hear back already??? The wait is seriously killing me

Did anyone apply to Towson as a transfer and get accepted? I accepted my admission for the nursing program, although UMSON is my first choice. I didn't want to give up an opportunity to go to nursing school in fall, and then not end up getting accepted to UMSON. The $200 acceptance fee was due this week for the nursing program. I am wondering if the acceptance fee to Towson also applies to us, that is due by May 1. I don't know if we will hear back by the end of April, but I don't want to waste another $200 by sending in the admissions fee to Towson. Anyone else in my boat?

Hey Navygirl921, I'm on the same boat as you! I applied to Towson nursing program and got accepted, and I just paid the $200 acceptance fee this Monday. But my first choice is also UMSON at Shady Grove. Waiting for UMSON is so annoying though, I checked the status everyday and nothing is updated. Hopefully the result will come out by this weekend.

I agree! I applied at the Baltimore campus though. I know it's extremely competitive, but I'm still hopeful! Praying that they get back to us very soon!

Yes, I'm in the same position. I turned in my deposit to Towson on monday. Just like everyone else UMSON is my first choice of school, however with me submitting my $200 deposit, i feel like its going to be Towson at this point. Hopefully we hear back soon enough.

Same here! Hopefully we will NOT be meeting at Towson.

I know Towson University itself has an acceptance fee due by May 1, we do have to pay that correct?

I believe we do have to pay it by May 1st, but I looked very carefully and there was nothing that said they had to be paid at the same time. I hesitated to pay $500 when feel good about my application to UMSON, but I could deal with $200 to keep that option open. I certainly hope we hear before May 1st!

Yep I am in the same boat. I gave my deposit in as well :( because I didn't want to lose the spot, should UMSON not work out for money reasons (or because of a rejection or waitlist). I have been really thinking about what I would do if I didn't hear from UMSON (with aid) bu May 1st...I'd have to suck it up and pay the other half of the Towson deposit and risk wasting all of that for UMSON.

I believe the May 1st deposit for Towson does apply for us but I want to call and ask if we lose our spot for the school (not the nursing program) if we don't give that in on time. If I find something out, I will post. I will be fine going to Towson of course--I have spoken with alum who are doing well and have been managers relatively quickly... but UMSON is where I have been wanting to go for the past year. We'll see.

P.S.,...isn't the rest of the Towson deposit 300$ instead of $200?

I agree! I could deal with the $200, although it does suck to just throw away the money if I do get in (hopefully) I need to have other options. I really don't want to pay the extra couple hundered dollars to Towson, so hopefully we hear by then, if not then I will probably end up going to Towson, just because I will have already invested so much money.

Whoops I took too long to post that and didn't see the other comments that were written before :) Looks like there are a lot of us.
