Who is applying?
I can't believe I was wait listed, I'm so honered, with my gpa and my lack of experience in health care setting. Thank you UMD! I'm glad to have been considering for a seat with people who have worked very hard to get into the schooL. To be honest after everything is said and done, the admissions committee truly care about the teas exam. Please don't apply if you don't get above 80% even with a perfect gpa, that's an indication of how well u will perform on the licensing exam which in today's economy schools are concerned with getting u to pass that exam on ur first try. That's how they get their top applicants to apply which means more money and they keep their rank. This simple business 101.Though I also believe that the schools wants u to be an excellent nurse, but the most important thing is money, and umd can't bet on the wrong player!
I can understand how you would feel that way but things are not that simple. TEAS scores are only one factor considered out of many which are all important. Our exceptional first time pass rate for the nursing board exam is but one reason we are nationally ranked. Furthermore, we are a state school, meaning not for profit and, as a matter of fact, only 11% of our total budget is supplied by the state. Additionally, in state tuition does not cover even half the cost of training a bachelor's prepared nurse. Take a look at the tuition charged by private nursing schools if you want to confirm this. Because of the quality of education we offer along with affordable tuition, we have the luxury of choosing from a large applicant pool. Would we accept more applicants if we had the capacity? Absolutely. But since that is not possible we try to choose those applicants most likely to succeed in our program. We believe that no one factor alone, not GPA, not TEAS, not anything can predict success. That is why we look closely at everything. Congratulations and best of luck.

Grey lady. I know this question is a bit early but when do wait listed students start to hear back? I also heard that wait listed students don't receive a letter or a packet, how true is that?

To save Grey Lady the trouble - waitlisted students hear back as a spot is made available for them. There is no set time, it is just as places in the program open up. This can happen up to the day before orientation.
A better question to ask might be: "When will all applicants be notified of a decision whether it be 'wait listed' 'denied' or 'admit'?" This will tell you when all applicants have been given their decision, thus allowing a time gap for them to accept or deny their admission. As said above and in previous posts, wait listed students will be offered seats as admitted students deny their seats.

I'd love to know the answer to this as well!
Hi guys! I received a call this afternoon informing me of my acceptance to the traditional BSN program @ Shady Grove. I'm pretty excited for this opportunity, and now I'm just looking to hear back from one more school. I know many people are still waiting anxiously, and I wish you all the best of luck. The long wait is almost over :)

My apology, I meant to state if u have a low gpa with low teas score below 80% then I don't think they will take a second look. I defiantly worked hard on my essay, and most of my writing reflected of the umson's history, which is on their website. I only say this cause mine is way to low I mean it's crazy but my score was high enough.
