Hello all, I am planning to apply to UMSON in the fall 2016. I haven't seen a thread yet for other hopefuls and potential candidates. So I wanted to start one.
Not to jump ahead... but I'm sort of getting more worried because letters for another program I'm applying to are being mailed out next week (according to their admissions office) and I would need to get back to them before a certain date, if I were to be admitted to their program. Somehow I feel that if I were to hear back from UMSON that I (hopefully!) got off the Wait List, it'll be much later than on and I will have already accepted the seat at the other program .
I just received a call from Ms. Rodriguez - She said "no news is good news" and that those who are still committee ready are still being weighed for seats. She said this is the largest application pool they've ever had and that it's been tough to make decisions. They're hopeful to have all applications done by next week but of course "no guarantees". So those of us who are still committee ready - WE BETTER BE GETTING SEATS!

She didn't mention if the first round of acceptances was over and they're on to the next round, did she?
I don't know if this helps at all but I was accepted two weeks ago and had to have my stuff sent in by today or my spot would be given up so I'm sure that of stuff is due by today, the number of people who don't send stuff they get a number of spots they still have left to send acceptances? That's my guess of how it works.

It helps a lot actually! Thanks for sharing :).
I do wonder how they are able to put applicants on the Wait List so early even before others (like you all still waiting) get their decisions? I thought the Wait List was due to there not being enough spots for qualified applicants. Maybe they just tell us that to make us feel better haha. Being on the Wait List probably just means we're not as competitive as other qualified applicants, not that there aren't enough spots. Just a thought.
@kayrock (my replies aren't going underneath of the thread -_-) - It seems to me like those who are still committee ready are in this grey area. Like we're 2nd string and if the 1st strings reject then we'll get pulled, and then those of us who are leftover from the second round of acceptances will get wait-listed. Those who are already wait-listed may be like a 3rd string? Just a guess.

This is honestly a very concerning part of their "process". It is very concerning that they put people on the wait list when they openly admit that they still have not even reviewed everyone. When they say that the wait list means that you are qualified but there was X number of people more qualified that earned a slot over you, it makes perfect sense... but when they put you on a wait list before everyone has been reviewed... You have to question the integrity of the process. How can you be less qualified than someone they haven't even reviewed yet? This just goes against what UMSON staff have said about the wait list the last few years. It makes more sense to put off telling people they are on the wait list to the very end.
