UMSON fall 2016 hopefuls ?

Published

Hello all, I am planning to apply to UMSON in the fall 2016. I haven't seen a thread yet for other hopefuls and potential candidates. So I wanted to start one.

Hey everyone! I've been reading this thread for many weeks now as I have been anxiously awaiting a decision from the school and it felt good knowing I wasn't alone! I just wanted to let you all know that I just saw on SURFS that I have been admitted for the traditional BSN program at Baltimore, so for those who applied to that location, you should be finding out soon!!! All the best :)

Congrats!! Whoop whoop! So excited to see all those admitted posts!!

Yeaaa! More good news pouring in. Congratulations to you :)

What happens if we miss the call? Because I was not aware that BSN accepted students receive a call. Does the call have important information, or will it have the same info as there will be in the letter??

Congrats to those who got in so far!!

I think it's just to confirm that you've been accepted. Your letter will have all the important info in it.

*Need to add* Your letter and the admitted students page should tell you what's next. Make sure you choose the shady grove campus on the page cause the default campus is Baltimore.

Hey CNL people still waiting for interviews: I was just emailed a couple hours ago about an interview so check your emails!! FINALLY. Interview dates went all the way up to May 10th in my email, so if you haven't already heard back you should all hear back soon!

Any of the already admitted CNL applicants have any interview tips? :)

OMG! SO AWESOME! @shal94 I'm still waiting for the interview email and keeping the faith even though Im SUPER anxious...Congrats to you, you're that much closer to the CNL program!

Congrats to ALL those already accepted to the CNL and BSN program!

AH YAY! So happy you heard back for an interview. I still haven't heard anything :( But people have said to mention why Maryland and why CNL program is for you!

@shal94 did the email come from SON Admissions?

Thanks guys! I got the email from SON CNL Program

I had to respond to the email with my top three time preferences. I have a feeling that May 10th is the last day they will be doing interviews, so you should get your interviews in the next couple days for sure!!!

I will be doing a Skype interview because I live in California :)

Hi shal94! That's so great to hear! Congratulations. The interview is pretty standard, and lasts anywhere from 15-30 minutes. I sat in with a faculty member and the admissions liaison, and the faculty member asked me a few questions (talk about a personally or professionally challenging time and how you dealt with it, tell us about your background, what about your experiences will add diversity and enrich our incoming class; Where do you see yourself in 5 years; There was also a "finish this sentence" - something to the effect of "I work best with people who"; Anything else you'd like to highlight from your application? Those are the questions that I remember) They save the end for questions, and definitely ask questions! Show that you've done your research on the program, the CNL degree and role, and show your confidence in pursuing this new path at Maryland, too :) It's overall a pretty casual conversational interview. Best of luck!! Congrats to all the others starting to hear back!

It won't be a problem if you miss the call. It is basically a courtesy call to congratulate and welcome you and discuss really basic info about orientation dates. You can find everything you need on the website under Accepted Students and do choose the right campus as there are some differences in dates, etc.
