Hi All! I wanted to see who has applied for UMSON for the fall 2019 Semester. I have applied for the Baltimore campus. I am very nervous, as I retook two classes, so my current overall GPA of 3.75 will go down to a 3.3 as they factor that in. For an overall science GPA, mine is an 3.8. On the TEAS, I received a 73.3 overall, Having and 82 on the reading, and 87 on math. I also have experience at a nursing home that I currently work at now. Has any one else applied? Which campus? I have also heard that UMSON takes long to get back and most won't hear until April. I turned in my application on Jan 29., and I keep looking like they would have already said something hahah. Hope to hear back soon!

We need like a brunch get together or something when we get our decisions back lol and I didn’t technically “apply” to both locations but I put shady grove as my like second option or something like that and then Baltimore as my first choice. Same with Towson and their 2 locations! And my stats are super confusing haha I’ve been at Towson now for a year and a half and have a 3.6 GPA with all of my nursing pre reqs, but I took some random classes at CCBC like 7-8 years ago that they add into my “cumulative” but have nothing to do with nursing. So my “cumulative” is technically like a 2.910 but I talked to Maryland admissions about that and they said since a lot of those ccbc classes don’t go towards nursing, I’ll be fine. So I’m just going off of my 3.6 GPA and I don’t have a full science GPA yet because I’m finishing up micro and anatomy right now! And my TEAS were a 75 something % I forget the exact decimal point lol but I didn’t have chem, micro, or anatomy before I took them so we shall seeeee lol ALSO I emailed Maryland and they said decisions will be sent out in April ugh lol I’m getting so impatient!!!!
Honestly I’m scared because my TEAS is an 84 but science was my lowest percentage...I got a 72 ? math is my worst subject so I studied it the most cuz I was so scared and guess what I got? A 93% for math. Eh! It is what it is lol April ?? Early, Mid or Late April ?? I just wanna kno when I should start checking my profile like a mad woman. Btw, how did u apply for both programs ? In the application there’s an option to apply for shady grove but that doesn’t include also applying to Baltimore as a first choice.
Maybe I’m thinking of towson then because I remember one of the options was “first choice” and then “second choice” so maybe that was towson haha I honestly don’t remember. And that’s still good!!! I screwed myself with the TEAS because I hadn’t taken any of the main sciences yet so I got like a 50% on the science portion but then 80’s and 90%’s on the other parts. And they just said April lol they didn’t give me an exact time frame which is kind of frustrating.

Everyone here is making me regret choosing to be a pharmacy technician instead of a CNA, I’m sure that would’ve made me look more competitive LOL. Well if it’s April than I guess we can start counting down !!

I would think a pharm tech background is just as competitive. Med management is just as important in nursing. You’ll bring in a different experience to the cohort! You’ll probably do really well in the pharmacology classes because you’d be more familiar with generic/brand names, classifications, doing pharm math... things you don’t necessarily learn as a CNA.

You’re right. Honestly i waltzed into a pharmacy desperate for techs and I was miserable at my cashier job at JCPenney lol they hired me on the spot and certified me haha so I guess pharm tech was better than nothing

i got the exact same thing on my teas. I am just trying not to freak out because they just wanted you to have a 70%

Yeah I feel like Towson is wayyyyyy more strict about their TEAS than Maryland is. From what I have been hearing at least. Maryland looks at everything overall like GPA, TEAS, essay, background, etc. But it seems like Towson is like you need a 85% or higher on the TEAS or we don’t accept you kinda thing lol

I'm not 100% sure but I think the main reason behind that is Towson's program is much smaller so they tend to be more selective even though UMD's program is ranked higher

Came here to say this!! That’s beyond stressful!! I feel like my other colleges have their acceptance date before the 1st.
